It is our opinion that the dairy/egg industry as a whole has just as much a negative impact on animals/environment as the meat industry.

Did you know that on large chicken farms when the "farmers" do have the chickens produce fertile eggs, the male chicks are just throw into a grinder while still alive? They only need the females so they just mash up the little guys who can't produce more eggs.

Overall, the treatment of dairy cows is deplorable. Animals die from overcrowding, lack of medical treatment, etc. Dairy farms have insane CO2 emissions. Plus, if we eliminated the dairy industry, we would free up enough corn to greatly reduce the food shortage in developing countries (no longer need to use to corn to make feed for the cows).

We know that there are free-range eggs, small farm creameries, etc, but we just decided that we are not longer going to exploit animals for our own benefit for any reason.

Also, humans aren't made to drink cow milk. It is as simple as that. We are the ONLY animal that drinks another species' lactation fluids. It's like a kitten nursing from a camel. Not meant to happen.

The list goes on and on. When you get right down to it, it boils down to respect. That cow/chicken was once my mother, and I was once its mother. Do I want it locked up so I can eat ice cream and have real butter in my grits? Nope.

Oh, but the number one reason: Cause Paul McCartney is a vegan. : )

(Totally didn't mean for that to be so long. I've been on the PETA website too much!)

right, I realize everything you've just said. I guess since the only animal products I eat/use is free-range and/or wild-caught, and even then I eat so little meat it's rather negligible. I just have trouble understanding the switch, despite having prior knowledge of the reasons you've enumerated.

Either way, that's cool that y'all are doing it. Whatever floats your boat and isn't Republican. :)
