[Light was sleeping when the shockwave hit. It's deep, childlike, just as it always is: the sleep of the innocent, or the truly psychopathic. Except that as the wave creeps over him with tenuous fingers, remaking and rewiring him, out of the corners of his mind scuttle ... spiders. Some tiny, some the size of a fist, on black, spiny legs. A bad dream. Nothing to be concerned about.

I'm sorry if I disturbed you.

[He almost, almost sounds his usual self - not that Eve would know. It comes across as sombre calm.]

It is fine.

Tea can be soothing for that sort of thing.

[He's been into the tea already - it's not just the refreshment he's after, but the warmth of the cup. His fingers feel cramped.]

Perhaps I'll try it, if it should happen again.

Do you have a preference?

Lavender tea is quite nice.

It has a very nice scent to it and tastes good.

It's a little floral, for my tastes.

An interesting recommendation, though. Usually people recommend camomile, or valerian.

[He hears a great deal over the network.]

[There's a delay of several minutes before Light replies. He's never learned the precise nature of B's connection with the others, but it wouldn't surprise him.]

I'm sorry about him.

[Her voice is softer now and if he can hear past the distance in her tone, there is sadness too.]

What is in the past is in the past.

I appreciate it despite that.

Then that makes it the present, in a way. With us forever.

[The theory that people should be able to leave their mistakes behind has never impressed him, and doesn't now.]

Hn.

All I can do is keep moving forward. The two weeks aren't up yet. He may come back.
