I want new music, in a perhaps vain attempt to find something that moves me (hah! how long have I been saying this?). So I'll list a few recommendations and then you give me yours. Ursula 1000* Peeping Tom Spank Rock (any band making fun of BEP's Fergie and saying they keep it nasty like Kelly Bundy rocks my face) & Gnarls Barkley*
*The diversity and range of the song styles on these two cds are just fucking wacky. ** oddly enough, most of this I've come in contact with, in some form, from Urban. Eeehhh.
The weather has been utterly delightful. Warm & clear in the mornings, dramatic and stormy in the evenings. Two nights ago there was a most fantastic storm. Before the rain, thunder and lightning the sky screamed of Apocalypse, or at least Ghostbusters. The clouds just grew increasingly dark, with them quickly going by. The storm itself was mild-mannered and lovely. Steady rain and unimposing thunder. Occasional whips of lightning. Yesterday I did a parking lot rain dance and twirled around. It shouldn't feel so odd to play in the rain, but it did.
Today is Day Two of my three day weekend. Yesterday I scrubbed the kitchen and bathroom clean. It's nice to have time to cook & clean, watch movies, hang out, and hopefully fit some pictures and sewing into it all.
halooverhorns & I finished watching season 6 of The West Wing today. It was a bit disappointing in regards to build-up and the lack of a season finale cliffhanger. I found that I didn't care about Matt Santos and missed watching the exploits of Bartlett Admin. But we began watching season 2 of Popular; damn I've missed Mary Cherry.
Earlier today I heard about shootings in the Capitol building. There was a quote on CNN about how one man looked down at his Blackberry to see that it said to lock everyone in the rooms. Oddly enough, I think my obsession with The West Wing has given me a bit more sympathy towards politicians, because I had a vision of just how scary that message would be to receive. To find out your building is in lock down because of shots fired.
Before I give up all attempts to be a cookie baker extraordinaire, I am going to try this recipe from Cookies, Cupcakes & More.... Based on all information I've found, she's got a good mixture-- higher quantities of brown sugar than white, pudding for moisture, etc. The only thing I may change would be the vanilla quantity. Most things tend to say 1 tablespoon is better...
The most disappointing thing I saw: on ebay, in an add listing, a picture of Jessica Simpson in a unicorn sweatshirt and the caption "Unicorns are in this season!" I'm sick of trends stealing my animal loves & style things. If Urban sells a unicorn necklace, I'm destroying it. It's bad enough they're selling lightning bolts.
