Here's some advice (not that you asked).

1 kitty = 1 box
2 kitties = 2 boxes
3 kitties = 3 boxes (you get the drift).

1 floor on your house = 1 box
2 floors on your house = 2 boxes (seeing a theme?)

So two cats in a one story house = 2 boxes
one cat in a two story house = 2 boxes
two cats in a two story house = at least 2 or 3 boxes, strategically placed.

Cat Attract is a nifty kind of scoopable cat litter that helps with such "issues". Dont put a "ton" of litter in the box. Some cats sink into the litter and that bothers them. 1" should do ya, and change as frequently as you can. (this said with chagrin as I am lousy at this, personally).

Patience ... and best wishes babe.

Ya I know about the additional boxes. Although the 1" rule is new to me, thanks. =D

What I could really use is advice on how to get the amonia smell out of the fireplace. Baking soda scrub?

Nature's Miracle might help, or a cleaner with orange oil in it. Don't quote me on the orange oil, all I know is that it's powerful stuff.

Echoing the other's Nature's Miracle. If it's carpeting (if Freya moves from the fireplace) follow the directions about how long to soak it and then remove it. For the fireplace, it's likely a concrete, cement or brick hearth, right? If so - the product needs to be allowed to absorb into the floor. It works by killing bacteria.

Nature's Miracle is one, if you can't find that - try Simple Solution. Both should be available at PetsMart or Petco or any other pet supply.
