I may have time later to continue in this general thought process, but for now...

I seem to be receiving many emails about how if I don't believe in God I need to leave the United States ( Read more... )

I often need to vent, and some emails I got from family made me want to vent about politics and religion. I have had many loud disagreements with my family about our opposing view points.

"The Da Vinci Code" - I read when it first came out. Could Not put it down, absolutely loved it. And was hoping you'd let me borrow "Angels and Demons" when you're done. The book was marketed as a work of Fiction. Many of the facts in the book are exaggerations or poor stereotypes of the truth. Many of the facts are just plain old facts as well.

I find it asinine that Catholics took so much offense to "The Da Vinci Code." When a non-fiction book "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" written by 2 well educated but kinda weird gentlemen made the same claims about Mary Magdalene 25 years ago. I also need to get around to reading this.

The whole hoopla wants to take away the process in which you think for yourself. Which really the Bible is all about people thinking for themselves. The Bible is still considered one of the most controversial works of our time. It encouraged people to fight (peacefully - haha) against the current infrastructure and follow a Single god. A very new idea, and it continues to stipulates you must come to Faith / Belief on your own.

Forcing people to believe in God is Not like forcing children to eat their vegetables...it has No benefits. By telling people to leave the US, because of differing beliefs, these emails attempt to force Christianity on people.

However, give people an intriguing reason to do more research on their own...invaluable to the success of any idea.

Not that I'm saying "The Da Vinci Code" will bring people into or away from Christianity. I am a staunch believer that religion is beautiful...its the "believers" who are ugly.

I'm also a staunch believer, that I have all the same rights to voice my opinion as a US citizen as those Christians do. I'm just not willing to be their judge, jury and executioner.

Like in these stupid emails that got me going. When I voice my opinions I also expect to be represented by my government. I just know that George W. and the 2 party system don't care what I have to say.

Ahh..Trent. Tori and Mander also has some fabulous quotes on this subject. I'm strangely drawing a blank as to those exact quotes right now.
