Today is the day I go to England. I got up an hour earlier than I planned to because I was starting to feel anxious about getting my packing done on time. I have to say that I'm pretty damn good at packing, haha! I wish that I could get to England without all the traveling now. :( My sister is going to be coming along with my dad and me to the airport this time, which I'm excited about! We went to Terminal 4 (my plane takes off at Terminal 7) as they have more choices for food. I stayed with my sister and dad for around two and a half hours before I went past security. Once I got past security I hung around at my gate for about an hour before we could start boarding, I passed the time by texting my sister and some friends as well as speaking to my mom a bit. When I got on the plane I got a little annoyed as people were taking their sweet as time getting their stuff put away and didn't even acknowledge anyone trying to get by! When I got to my seat there was already someone there. He was nice enough to actually make room in the overheard compartment for me. And almost told someone off because they were trying to get by. He said something like: Hold on, mate (English, can't you tell?!) I'm putting this girl's luggage away!" I found out his name is Sean and that he is from up North in England, he was telling me about his trip out here and was very sweet!
I'm so glad I didn't feel sick taking off this time, like I had the previous few times. As soon as the seatbelt sign went off, the man in front of me put his seat back as far as it could go! I asked him if he could move it up a little. No apology but he put it back in the upright position. I thought that was the end of it. But then his wife kept looking back in my direction. Finally she said that he wanted to sleep. I said that it was fine buyt it was so far back and my tv screen was rightin my face. She had the nerve to tell me that I could just move the screen. I kept reiterating that it was uncomfortable. She pretty much ignored me after that. No apology from either of them. I tried this thing called ASKING and being CONSIDERATE to the people behind me and they said it was fine that I moved my seat back. Sean was really sweet and told me there were some empty seats in the row next o us, I might have moved but I get a vegetarian meal and they do it by seat numbers so I didn't want to screw them up.
We found out that we might be landing earlier at Heathrow which is just fine by me! :D I decided to watch some TV but the TVs don't seem to be working properly as it either shuts off and even if it doesn't you don't seem to get the options of what TV show or movie you want to watch. Luckily I had downloaded the most recent episode of L&O: UK and put it on my iPod so I watched that. Thankfully when dinner was served, my vegetarian meal wasn't too bad! But I can't say they're amazing dishes. I noticed that the guy sat between me and Sean had been pretty much out cold since the plane took off, not sure how he managed that! I got about an hour of sleep on the plane and woke up feeling a lot more freshed. The plane ride went by pretty fast and my breakfast was pretty damn yummy, it was like a banana nut loaf! Yuuum! When we got over Ireland I tried recording the view as I just love when the sun is coming up but the lights are still on down below, it's just gorgeous. But unfortunately my iPod couldn't pick it up. :( When it was almost time to land Sean gave me his full name to look him up on Facebook but I still can't find him!
It seemed there were too many planes landing and we had to walked down onto the airstrip and take a shuttle to our terminal. Kind of an odd experience! This connecting flight was nowhere near as dramatic as last year's flight, that's for sure! That didn't stop me from being worried that getting through security might take too long, but I got through it pretty quickly and only had to wait fifteen minutes until we could begin boarding the next flight. I think the people sitting next to me had been at New York Comic Con, but I didn't talk to them so I'm not completely sure. This plane ride was very fast! It only took forty minutes to touch down in Manchester. Once we landed it only took me a little while to get my suitcase and then I went outside to look for Nic and her dad. I didn't see them right away and walked up and down the arrivals area and still didn't see them. I began to panic a bit and turned on my cellphone, that I was told would work in the UK but wasn't getting a signal at all. So I looked up Nic's cell number and tried using a pay phone, but they are seriously not as straight forward as they are over here! Thankfully when I started to walk back after trying the phone I spotted Nic! She said she had texted me telling me they were going to be a little late, but as my phone didn't work I obviously didn't get that! :(
We stepped outside and it was absolutely freezing, it definitely gets colder over there faster than it does over here! I thought I might take a nap on the way back to Nic's house but I was too wired and then Nic's friend PBo called and we talked for pretty much the entire ride home! The original plan was that I would take a nap once we got to the house and Nic would go pick up PBo but I was too damn excited and just tagged along with her. Before we went back to her house we headed to McDonalds where I ordered myself a veggie sandwich and fries. We ate at her house and I realized after a few bites of my food that it wasn't vegetarian food, instead it was chicken! I was really bummed out about that, I don't understand how they messed THAT up. So Nic's dad went back to get my order replaced, but at this point I wasn't too hungry. Nic's birthday had just passed, but I told her I was going to be bringing her presents with me so gave them to her. As well as Nerds for PBo as Nic said he would like them. Nic surprised me with a little mini Mickey Smith action figure to go with the Martha one I have!
We had to get ready for the Doctor Who Live! Concert we were going to that night. It didn't take long PBo to get changed and then I helped Nic curl her hair, which was quite a process but looked good in the end. I was the last to get changed as I didn't need to do much. At this point I was surprised at how well I was doing on so little sleep! As Nic's neighbor had done the pants for her River outfit she had wanted to see us all after we were ready, she thought it was really cute! We still had some time before we had to go to the concert so we had a little mini photo shoot right near Nic's house! There were some kids playing near by and they were more or less staring at us the entire time which was a little unnerving to say the last! We were waiting at a tram stop and I spotted a little girl wearing Vampire fangs and holding a little blue Dalek, which was just so damn precious! She was staring at us in awe, but mainly PBo as he really is a spot on Eleventh Doctor, haha! When we got to the venue, forget about it! People were looking at us left and right and I so wasn't used to it! Mainly the kids were looking and I even heard these little boys tell their dad: It's Amy and the Doctor! Another little boy asked PBo for his autograph, which was so damn precious but I think PBo was stunned and a bit shy so shook his head with a smile. We got programs before being shown to our seats which were pretty damn good I must say! During the concert they had monsters and aliens come out and as we were sat at the end of the row, some of them would do a double take and then stare down at us, especially PBo as he was 'the Doctor'. It was a bit unnerving and as I was sat on the end I asked PBo to switch with me at the intermission. All in all it was an amazing experience, I didn't want it to end!
When we got back to her house I took a shower just to freshen up and then we went on Skype with my sister for a bit. It was after ten at night at this point and I was running on no sleep, but I was starving! We made a pizza which I think just gave me more energy as I stayed up until around three in the morning. The last hour or so was PBo and myself talking to each other while in Nic's bedroom, who was asleep beside me! It was pretty hilarious I must say.
