hello hello!
well CYFK (city year for kids) is over and it was AMAZING! ive decided that my dream job would be to be a camp counselor year-round. its really and truly what i LOVE doing. so i was with kindergarteners all week and they were ADORABLE! we did a lot of arts and crafts projects and the whole theme of the week was spy so our team was the investigators an we made spynocculars, spy journals, code letters, secret mesages in invisible ink, and fingerprinting - it was really really really cute! i also gave myself an A for my "mid-term." i was really nervous about how id do this week because i have been working under a teacher all year and whenever theres a problem, i let the teacher know - im never fully in charge and this week i was the one who was fully in charge and if there was a problem, the volunteers came to me and i had to be the one to deal with it. So the whole week was just a bunch of fun and i was being the cool counselor by playing tag with the kids (which they LOVE when one of the adults wants to play and none of the other adults were playing - that automatically makes you cool lol) so things were going fine but my real test was on Wednesday when both my volunteer and my co-counselor had to leave early and i was stuck for a whole afternoon by myself with these kids. Not only did i work with my kids, but i worked with another team's kids as well! at the end of the day all of the people who are in charge of the week and logistics and stuff like that came up to me and said "we were walking around to make sure everyone was OK and had all their materials and everything and we noticed that a lot of the other groups had more than one volunteer and both counselors trying to keep the kids in check and couldnt and you were all by your self and had those kids doing everything you asked them too - they were perfect!" it was SUCH an ego boost i must say t-hehehe. it just made me feel like my work was really appreciated and that i was making a difference for the kids. i cannot tell you how amazing that feels but it is EXACTLY the reason why i want to be a teacher - just because of that feeling when you can tell you've changed sonmeone's life.
so the last day of camp (yesterday) we had a carnival for the kids and i volunteered (more than once i'd like to add) to be the face behind the board for the 'pie-in-the-face' game. the kids got sponges of whipped cream or shaving cream and got to throw them at my face. they loved it (especially when its their own counselor or the site director - theres a lot of satisfgaction in smashing cream in your boss's face) and i was having fun.. though i must say that whipped cream tasted much better that shaving cream and it doesnt sting your eyes lol... dont you worry i took pictures!

Hollywood Video was expecting a shipment in sometime this weekend and Newburry Comics was expecting a shipment in between 6:00 and 8:00 that night!! so i waited.. graham came by and we both found another awesome movie to get (mirrormask) and then waited until the boxes rolled in - it was truly awesome! and now i have it! how cool...
