teens

So I finally saw Juno this weekend, I was reading some dvd review of it and they said it was nice to have the movie on dvd so that you can fast-forward through the first 15 min, and I agree b/c they were fucking PAINFUL omg. Although its refreshing to see a teenage character like Juno on the screen, honestly I thought she was just an immature asshole most of the time and written in a very one-note kind of way. The best part was when Ellen Page got some leeway to show Juno has having more emotions than constant sarcasm and no sense of self awareness. I mean really some of the things she said to Jennifer Garner's character in terms of having a baby were just WTF-worthy. Jen Garner's character was my fav and I think it was because of the acting and not the writing, her character could have easily been like some snotty upper-class yuppie obsessed with getting the perfect baby, but Jen Garner injected a lot of humanity into that character and made her multidimensional, also Jason Bateman was really good as a man-baby hahaa.
Juno's parents kinda weirded me out too, I mean its good that they were supportive of their daughter but is teen pregnancy so "normal" now that they "expected" it from her and didn't at least get upset and scream or go find the teen-father and demand something from him? I mean idk, I guess it was good she was so...uh...self sufficient with carrying out the pregnancy and not demanding anything from Bleaker but ugh IDK there needed to be less sarcasm and a bit more character realism.

Also another reason to fast-forward through the first 15 min are the horrible 4 songs that play in the first fucking NINE minutes of the movie. The music in this movie is so bad, all hipster and pretentious ewww omg.

LOL this morning the CNN news-crawl had something about 15 year old Miley Cyrus apologizing for the scandalous photo Annie Leibovitz took of her for the new Vanity Fair magazine. Personally I don't find anything sexy about the photo, her skin tone makes her look kind of dewy and sickly @.@ But why anyone thought it would ok to photograph her in this context is beyond me. I think its just her parents cashing in on her, them and the photographer should be apologizing for exploitation because frankly all they seem to be concerned about is the bottom line -.-

Sexualization of teen stars has been going on since for a while now but its kind of disturbing how the media peddles this stuff for sales, its kinda like when Hayden Pantierre turned 18 and posed for those pedo-tastic GQ magazine pics where she was sexually infantilized with teddy bears and nighties. I mean WTF? Look what happened to Lindsay and Britney, the media wants a train wreck to follow and cash in on.
