The Year of the Mayans

Mar 05, 2012 23:22

I finally started all the dental work. I was supposed to start February 13th, but they had to reschedule my appointment, so I didn't get to go in until the 27th. I was actually irritated - I want to get this done, damn it! And instead of pulling all of the top teeth, like she was initially going to do, the dentist decided to pull half, and I am glad. Having seven teeth pulled does weird shit to your adrenaline, and then you have to heal, and all of that takes quite a toll on your body.

I am stubborn, as anyone who knows me personally well knows. On the 28th, I got up with the girls and drove them to school. The teacher (who is just awesome) asked me how it went and how I was, and I told her it went great and that I was on drugs so I was just fine. We giggled and then I kissed my daughter, came home, did my entire Creative Writing class..and then decided to walk to the coffee shop. The coffee shop is like, a block and a half away, so no big deal. Right. My legs were wobbly by the time I got to the bottom of the steps of my apartment building, but I am stubborn, and I wanted that coffee, so I kept going. I proudly announced that I was on drugs as I walked in the back door, and while the owner knew what I meant, the two ladies at the table with her didn't have a clue.

Codeine, as it turns out, makes my tact fly out the window.

I haven't felt the need to take codeine since Wednesday (the 29th), but I have a dull ache in my cheek because when you have eye teeth pulled, it really wants to hurt all the way up into your eye. It sucks. Other than that and quite a bit of swelling, I am ok, but I have to see the oral surgeon tomorrow for two impacted wisdom teeth.

Wish me luck. I will try to update soon. I continue to take the Year of the Mayans by storm.
