(no subject)

So, a conference with Elder Son's teacher is coming up today, so I put together a little proposal letter for his teacher and other administrators, asking them to consider organizing a card-writing campaign for our soldiers abroad.  I have to edit it before I give it to her, since my husband pointed out that the "any recovering soldier" at Walter Reed Medical is a no-go address - no mail unless it has an addressee!

So if you got that email, it's bogus, unfortunately.

Anyway, my husband posted something similar on his blog, and some of the comments he got really pissed me off.

In particular the one that spouted the same old crap, "Want to support the troops? Bring them home from this unnecessary, evil war. They shouldn't be in Iraq in the first place.  Do everything you can to end this war NOW."

What fucking bullshit.  Yeah, whatever, act on your political convictions.  Go to rallys, sign petitions, put up protest signs, VOTE.  But people who in any way hold the individuals stuck in the shit to blame can kiss my fucking ass.

Tell ya what, fucker, you go get a job, promise to do whatever they ask you to do, and then have them send you to a desert hell pit with no fucking comforts at all, no music, no tv, no BED, crap food, where you're terrified almost all the time, you never really know when you'll be allowed to come home, and you keep hearing that lots of people are angry with you for taking the job.  Then tell me that it would make you feel better to know that some people think the people you're working for are wrong for doing this to you.

FUCK YOU!

I fully cop to the liberal protest bent.  I took my babies to the protest rally.  But I don't blame the soldiers, I feel for them.

Oh, and, for the record, I took a lot of shit from my family and total strangers when the whole Abu Gharib thing came out, because I refuse to just wholesale condemn the soldiers involved.  Yeah, they and some of our current troops are doing some pretty atrocious things, but I blame, at least in part, the environment they're in.  I DO NOT think that our all-volunteer army is just a refuge for people who just wanna kill and hurt things anyway.  That attitude is simplistic and stupid.  The kind of pressures our troops are facing right now are enough to warp the psyches of the strongest individual.

Okay, that was a bit cranky.  I need to get some sleep.

cussing, i hate people, pompous much?, politics, cranky
