Heh. We've got a bum.

Way out here in BFE, we've got what a friend once referred to a San Fran's recycling program:  "We don't need recycling, we've got bums."  I just saw a guy pulling out everything worth anything from our recycling cans set out for tomorrow's pick up.  I'm glad my soda and Hubbie's beer is profiting someone.

We're officially old suburbanites now - we're members of the local mega-gym.  It's got a nice kid storage area that we can't really use, because Younger Son is in the throes of acute clingy syndrome.  So Hubbie takes me there after work, and goes home to have dinner with the kids.  I got two free appointments with a personal trainer, WHO KILLED ME, so I pretty much just do the treadmill for now.  I currently weigh 45 pounds more than my mother.  But she's got the diabetes, stroke, and heart attacks working for her, so I think she's cheating.

I've been trying to practice driving with the Hubbie, and it's going pretty well for how sporadically I'm doing it:  I went through two drive-throughs last time!  But we've gotta get someone to come out and watch the kids while we do it, so it depends on other peoples' schedules.

Heh heh.  We've gotta get someone to watch the kids while we do it.  Yeah, that would be great, could you just take 'em down the street to the park?  For about an hour?

I've known for a while what I want my next tattoo to be; a filligree pattern bracelet on my left wrist, about an inch and a half wide, with the word Mama worked into it on the front, and a little tadpole on the inside of my wrist.  We went to the tattoo expo for a little bit recently, and I got cards for all the locals that were there.  There were some guys with some great stuff, I really like three of them, and talked to one guy I think I want to do the tat.  I've gotta remember to email him and start the design process.

We had a full holiday weekend.  We went to Muir Beach on Saturday, Elder Son freaked us and him out when he got knocked over by a wave.  Cool that he's getting braver, but, hey, let's not go overboard.  Younger son LOVED the sand.  Digging, digging.  At first he was scared of the water, turning and running from every wave, but after he went in with Daddy, he was loving it.

Sunday was shopping.

Today, we went to the Botanical Gardens in Tilden Park, and I realized another way that I am a bad pagan.  Yeah, the whole savoring nature thing?  Not really my bag.  I was in a foul mood the whole time, the tiny mazy paths really pissed me off, and I found myself wishing I was at a mall.  I think the problem is two-fold.  One, I got plently of nature when I was in High School.  It was up in the Santa Cruz mountains, tiny li'l town, with shit to do.  Hubbie is a born and bred city kid, grew up in Oakland.  We have different perspectives.  Two, Hubbie is down in the city every day, surrounded by, dealing with, and getting annoyed by lots of people.  He talks to grown ups all the time.  He almost never has to watch Mister Rogers, BooBah, Jakers, Recess, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, or Power Rangers.  I, on the other hand, have seen, except for the gym and family, the same 6 people all summer.  During school, I can safely expect that that number might increase to 10.

Stir crazy doesn't begin to cover it.

Oh, and, I've started making icons.  Just cuz I like doing graphics, it's fun, and it appeals to my hyperfocusing nature.  I'm gonna post some in the
iconreview group, and I'll put them here as I get them done.

If you want anything, let me know and I'll see what I can do....
