Laundry

Got the washer and dryer that are here to work, which is great. It means I can give Dumbass my old ones, let him take over payments, and that's another bill I'm free of for now.

Of course, in this house, good comes with the bad. The washer drains into the laundry basin/sink thing, since this is an old house and apparently plumbing was not a concern when constructing homes in the 50s. Which is fine, it drains well, the sink is there, it's all hooked up and there's the basement drain right under it in case any mishaps should occur.

All of this is well and good, when someone takes care of things. When someone doesn't, you end up with a two inch layer of ... what I'm hoping is dirt and dryer lint coating the bottom of the basin and apparently the entirety of the drain.

I took an old dustpan and scraped off the layers of ... whatever that sludge was, and found a screwdriver (long, narrow, available) to kind of poke around in the drain. it seems to just be more sludge, so tomorrow, after I go to the apartment and finish the last of the cleaning (and shower, since the water heater guy is still MIA) before I turn in my keys on Tuesday, I'll head over to Lowe's. I did some research (yay internet!) and hopefully a few bottles of draino and a plumbing snake will solve the problem. (I checked the pipes, they're newer, so draino shouldn't be a problem.)

If not, well, the laundromat isn't too far away. >:(

home sweet what now
