Rainy Days
(Prince of Tennis. Golden pair. 198 words. PG)
For
fractured_sun Oishi knew that when the day was gray and it looked like it was going to rain Eiji always got down. He liked the sun, running outside, and the gray days and impending canceled tennis practice always made him sulk.
And like there was nothing as uplifting as a happy Eiji, there was nothing as upsetting as a sad one. At least as far as Oishi was concerned. So even though the days were gray and there were few things Eiji enjoyed that he could do, there was at least one left.
"Isn't it too cold for ice-cream?" Eiji asked when they stood in front of the shop.
"I don't mind," Oishi said and that was all the encouragement Eiji needed to grab his hand and run into the shop.
It soon became a tradition and rainy days stopped making Eiji pout. For a long time Oishi thought it was the ice-cream. It wasn’t until they were together that one rainy day Eiji poked him in the chest and said, "The ice-cream is great, but I like spending time with Oishi more."
He really should have known. After all, Eiji always smiled with him, rainy day or not.
Grains of Sand
(Prince of Tennis. Tezuka/Fuji. 270 words. PG)
For
reddwarfer Fuji thinks Tezuka will be annoyed by the sand. After all you never get quite rid of it and when you get back home after a day on the beach sand grains always manage to find the way to the sheets. Fuji quite likes this, it's like taking a part of the beach with him but he thinks Tezuka might be annoyed at the untidiness of the bed.
But it's Tezuka the one who proposes a walk and when they reach the sand and Fuji takes off his shoes, Tezuka does as well. The afternoon is cool but Tezuka says nothing about jackets and when a soft wind makes the sand dance at their feet Tezuka doesn't complain about it stinging their legs.
"You are quiet, Tezuka," Fuji says, walking to the shore and dipping his toes on the water.
Tezuka gives him a look. "Is that unusual?"
"No." Fuji keeps walking, this time near the shore, enjoying the feel of the tide when it comes close enough to wash his feet. "Why did you suggest the walk?"
"You seemed restless."
"Hm…" Fuji mumbles. "I've been thinking about you." Tezuka remains quiet so Fuji continues, "I've been wondering how to tell you I'm in love with you."
Tezuka stops walking then.
"What do you think, Tezuka?"
Tezuka doesn't answer with words. He just gives Fuji one of his looks, the corner of his lips curves into and almost smile and when they start walking again their shoulders touch. When they finish their walk, Tezuka goes with him and Fuji gets to take more than a few grains of sand home.
