The Day After Tomorrow

WARNING: SPOILERS!

Oh what a movie. Yes, it was bad, but I knew that.

I loved it; it had everything I expected and more.

Massive destruction: check
Great visual effects: check
Short sappy scenes: check
The necessary good ending with the heroes beating all odds: check

Now this is what I really loved:

I'm safe. I always am. Colombia is always safe in these types of movies. While the north was destructed by tornados, the nice map showed that here, it would rain a bit.

But my favorite part had to be when the Mexicans closed the borders and the 'Americans' couldn't get in. Come on, you have to laugh at the irony. It's not that I don't like US citizens, some of my family lives there and many of you have shown me what a great people you are, but some of your policies really suck. (Yes, I'm channeling my 'third world' mind here).

Then, when a reported announced that Mexico had opened its borders due to an agreement with the US to forgive all Latin-American debt, the whole theater erupted in laughter. I normally don't get political but this is great!

Now, go see the movie and forgive all external debt! Ok, just go see the movie then. I'll keep laughing with my fellow Latin-Americans at our little private joke.
