This is very cool. I'm really impressed by how you managed to show the Machine as both knowing the world and society in a level of detail that humans can't achieve and yet still being new and uncertain with emotions.

This kind of reminds me of "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" by Heinlein.

You captured the Machine's way of doing it's job perfectly. Ever since I found out it actually started looking for Reese, as an ASSET, I realized it really IS paying attention. I look forward to more fics from you in general but hoping you write more about the Machine's "opinion" of it's creator's new partner. :-D.

It's from episode 1.11 Super. There's one of those transition shots where the Machine searches for Reese before we see him at the apartment Finch has rented for him. The scanning happens so fast, you probably won't catch the text unless you're screen capping and looking for it.

The episode you want is 1x11 "super". Right before Reese rolls in his new apartment the Machine is looking, I believe in the top left corner, for Reese. Under his name is "asset" and then the Machine states somthing along the line of "no video, using cellphone audio" to listen in as the super talks Reese's "ear off". (Not sure whose phone its tapping). Hope this helps. :-)
