Oh oh oh oh this was exactly what I was looking for tonight. This is my favourite X-Men pairing (threesome, rather) and you wrote it perfectly. The dynamic in their relationship is spot-on; John is a bastard but still loves the people who love him, Marie is brilliant and sweet but by no means a pushover, and Bobby is just so adorably clueless and he loves them both and good God this is exactly how I pictured their relationship -- brutal and vengeful but so amazingly tight that even the apocalypse couldn't tear them apart.

I particularly loved John's love for Magneto; respect and reverence bordering on want, something that didn't happen but, hey, had it, who would have cared? And Bobby's deep-seeded love for Xavier. And Marie's just... her attachment to the people who love her.

I also loved the casualness of their relationship, Marie just kind of relaxing and watching as her boys fool around, like they're outside of the rules, but when someone like Logan comes into the picture, suddenly it's cheating. It's wonderful how John is so naturally part of the two of them that it's assumed he's going to be there, and going to love them, and he's not even the "other man" -- just another man. Superbly crafted; subtle and intimate and really fucking beautiful.

I'm seriously floored this is your first X-Men fic; you've written them as perfectly as I think I've ever read. The apocalyptic scenario is interesting, but I love how their powers manifest themselves as simple tools now, rather than defining characteristics -- without people to fight, or impress, or rule, they're just kids with tricks, tricks that aren't even really that useful anyway.

I really, really hope you continue this story. It's one of the best middle-of-the-night-can't-sleep comfort stories I've ever read. It's one I'm going to bookmark and re-read when I'm feeling down, one that's going to carry me through a few bad nights in the future. Thank you for that.
