Experiencing technical difficulties. Please stand by.

So let's say that - hypothetically speaking - one were writing a scene where someone was delirious and rambling in Enochian. And let's say one had the font for Enochian downloaded to one's OpenOffice. Would anyone know how to format (or whatever the right term is) things so the Enochian characters would display everywhere?

You know. Hypothetically

I tried it and couldn't get it to display properly except inside my WP program. I didn't try too hard though, because writers block stopped me before the need to use the font did. Would love to now if you figure something out.

I was going to resort to doing a .jpg and inserting it into the story.

For information's sake: what does the term "everywhere" encompass?

If you're going to post it on LiveJournal, you might have to take screenshots or something like that and upload the dialogue as a picture.

Example: Aimless Renegade's dialogue (on a black background) in Cities in Dust was done this way.

I really don't know of any other way to get special fonts to show on the web, unfortunately. :[

I want to see this happen, so I am trying to help!

I don't know if individual LJ posts support CSS or if that's something you'd have to include in your theme's code, but you could use dynamic fonts; OR you could embed the Enochian text as an image, but then people wouldn't be able to copy/paste, Control+F it, etc. But since it's Enochian and I doubt anyone would be typing in Enochian, I think maybe that's your best bet?

Here's an About.com article that goes through these options: http://webdesign.about.com/b/2008/07/04/reader-question-how-to-add-special-fonts.htm

I don't remotely have the skill to help you, but know that regardless of the hypothetical use of whatever help you may receive, I wholly support it.
