This morning, we checked out of our rental townhome and dropped off our bags at our ryokan. We walked around in search of a cute cafe place to eat at.
We found this place and they have like an unlimited coffee type beverage bar. It was hard to pick our drinks because everything is written in Japanese... =/ I think I was unadventurous and picked a regular coffee. Hubby got some carmel coffee I think.
We had to take a taxi to get to Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion). Isn't it such a majestic sight?
How pretty is that scenery?
Pretty flowers!
Next stop was Ryoanji. There is a famous rock garden there. There are 15 rocks, but wherever you are, you can only see at most 14 of the 15 rocks.
The last time we went to Arashiyama was the rainy day when we took the Sagano Scenic Tram. We wanted to see the bamboo groves and today was a perfect day to do it.
We went to Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama and enjoyed the sights.
We decided to head back and check into our ryokan...the Hiiragiya Bekkan. They served us tea upon our arrival.
We had an awesome garden view from our room. I totally felt transported.
We took a Japanese style bath and dressed in their yukatas and were ready for our kaiseki dinner. It was a treat for our eyes and bellies. I hope the menu helps identify the foods. Hubby had some substitutions for his food since he is allergic to some fish. They did not make a menu for his dishes, but I wanted to include photos. Hope you enjoy.
After dinner, our futon beds were laid out. Totally an amazing and fun place to stay! :D We highly recommend trying out a ryokan if you visit Japan.
