My Reason for a Sleepless Night
Gentle fingers on my cheek
what happened to my tears?
I was crying when I went to sleep,
why did they disappear?
I prayed I'd dream about you
butI feared what I would dream
would you hold me wrapped close to you
or haunt me with your screams?
It's the truth I fear like death,
the one I'll never question why.
The night of your last breath,
was I the reason that you died?
Hold me one more time
before the night ends into dawn
is it okay if I cry?
maybe in the morning I'll move on.
Let me touch you once more,
with your love moving through me
My heart will beat in time with yours
Can I see what you see?
In these dreams of mine
You're alive for a beautiful while
so why is it I cry
when I see you smile?
I'm fighting the dark beauty
an endless violent fight
struggling to face reality;
my reason for a sleepless night.
