Gravy: a cordial greeting between friends. An exclamation of excitedness and/or mischief. A way to break the silence of a life lived in drudgery. Sometimes also used in place of "damn," "shit," and other nasties.
Known Origins: As many may know, I sometimes randomly shout "death," "bitches," or "cunties" when the mood strikes me. Unfortunately the last two are particularly offensive to some people--though I don't know why. Anyway
tightpants4eva and I were discussing the flaws of our constant abusive use of these terms. Often at work, I find myself needing to say something to break the silence and monotony. The above terms are always on the tip of my tongue, and in order to avoid offending my co-workers, I think it is best to find a non-offensive exclamation. Thus the "gravy" was born during a late night, half-asleep conversation around the dangers of yelling "cunties" at work and the ensuing death by high-heels and badly burnt work java.
Example: What up gravy? Are we going to the packy for wine or not?
