I lost my gloves in a cab earlier this evening. These were not hand-knitted, or even robot-knitted, they were just some fuzzy-on-the-inside gloves I picked up at a department store somewheres. So, perfect opportunity to finish the mittens that have been languishing in my basket for three years!
I dug out the mittens, which are cleverly in a bag with the remaining yarn AND the pattern (pat on the back for me), and all that remains is to finish one thumb and weave in ends. Except I forgot that when I was knitting these things, I knit TIGHT. These mittens are stiff and the one thumb I did manage to finish is like a teeny boa constrictor. Or a finger trap. You get the idea. Too small for my hands.
So then, I get the brilliant idea that I should knit another pair of these mittens (they are the
Herringbone Mittens with Poms) but in some of the Road to China yarn that I have left over from making my lovely
Opus Spicatum hat. And then I'd have a lovely hat with a complementary pair of mittens, in the same yarn!!
But I only have one skein of the contrast color left, and it's only 80 yards. Which means I could probably make a single lonely mitten, but not a pair, with what I currently have on hand. SADNESS.
Incidentally, anybody have a skein of Road to China in the "Blue Tourmaline" colorway?
