in brief.

This weekend was more pleasant than expected.

Friday evening I went to Target to return some pants that didn't fit (I had to return them before August 3rd if I wanted store credit) and bought a couple shirts. I still love the shopping cart escalators. I looked for another game for one of the consoles we have in the house, but didn't see anything that caught my fancy (since we don't have any of the newest consoles). Patrick stopped by Friday night, and a good time was had by all. He left about two hours later. It's such an ego boost having sex with him - it puts a little smug smirk on my face knowing how much he likes my mouth.

Saturday I finally got my bike back in working order (it had at least nine months of dust on) and tooled around downtown a little. I kept getting stuck on Lower Wacker, though, which was unpleasant. No, I don't want to get on the interstate, thanks! I biked and biked (and biked and biked) and got home four hours later and knitted for a little while. The bolero is coming along nicely. I did laundry, too, FINALLY.

Sunday I got up and got the paper (with the new IKEA catalog, yay!) and went to the farmer's market on my bike. I remembered, again, that I need a new saddle, as the one I have puts pressure on exactly where I don't have any built-in padding. Owie. Anyway, I bought a bunch of tomatoes, a cucumber, and a bell pepper, in anticipation of making gazpacho again. I need cilantro and tomato juice for the recipe, though, so it will have to wait a few days.

I watched the first installment of Sense and Sensibility on the public tv channel, and then went and picked up Steen from her shift at the ER. I forgot how much I enjoy driving with someone, when there's no deadline for getting somewhere. And that evening, since her folks are in town this week, we had sushi with her dad, her brother, and his fiancee. Mmmm, sushi. Seriously, I could cheerfully eat sushi and Indian food every day. I would probably get very fat, but I'd be so satisfied.

And tonight, I'm going to the knitting club gathering at Goose Island Brewery, always a treat. I just hope that it doesn't rain anymore today. I had all my rain gear on this morning, boots, coat and umbrella, so just my knees got wet, but still. I did manage to make my lunch today, in case it's still gross out by lunchtime, so I don't have to leave the office if it's really miserable. Yay thinking ahead and saving me money!
