How to Make a Princess Necklace
Assemble your materials.
You will need:
1 package of "fine" gold ($3.99 - seriously. Go in with a friend - this package has made 4 necklaces so far and I still have left over.)
1 package bicone crystals. I only used 6.
1 package gold colored eye pins
1 package small gold jump rings
1 clasp
1 center gem. I got mine for omg cheap at Williams Costumes. It's a "vintage" point back gem in a dish setting - two gems and settings cost me under $2. You might want the nice sparklier versions.
You will also need the following tools. No need to buy the most expensive.
You will need:
A ruler
Small wire cutters or flush cutters
Round nose or rosary pliers
Needle nose or long nose pliers or chain nose (preferably without teeth - mine have teeth and they leave little marks sometime.)
Now cut 3 inches of chain and attach the big charm to the center with a jump ring. If you have never done this, please watch this video.
Now slip a bicone crystal on to one of the eye pins. Using your round nose pliers, make a loop on the other end. If you have never done this, watch is video. This make take some practice to get it right. You will probably not get it right the first time. If you do make a mistake on your loop, cut your crystal off of the pin and try again on a fresh pin. If your loops are close, but not prefect, it's fine, no one will notice. If anyone is close enough to comment on the unevenness, feel free to punch them.
You will need to make 6 crystal pins.
Now cut 4 - 1.5 inch lengths of chain and set them aside.
Gently open the eyes on your crystal pins and attach one to each side of the 3 - inch chain. Alternate 1.5 inch chain and crystals until your chain end in crystals, 3 crystals and 2 lengths of chain on each side. Now cut two lengths of chain to make the necklace fit. Mine where a little bit longer than 1.5 inches. Attach clasp with jump rings and you're done!
By the way, I'm almost done with my dress. It needs some fitting adjustments and a hem.
