Everyone had their pet theories.
“He does it because he knows he has so little time left, so he uses it to push Sango away so she won’t be so sad when he’s gone,” whispered Kagome to Kouga.
“He does it because her cheeks turn red and her eyes flash. He thinks she’s pretty when she’s mad,” explained Shippou to Kirara, who groomed her paw in agreement.
“He does it to break the tension. It takes Sango away from her sad, serious thoughts,” said Jaken to Sesshoumaru, who was not interested.
“He does it because his father and Mushin both did it. He is acting out what he saw as a child,” said Kaede to Rin when she had asked.
“He does it because he’s a lousy, stinking pervert who likes to feel female’s bottoms. It’s not that hard to figure out,” announced Inuyasha, tired of all the conjecture.
Miroku had overheard all of their reasons as to why his hand so often found its way to Sango’s rear end. It disturbed him somewhat that Inuyasha was the one who had guessed the closest. Indeed, he had no real reason for his wandering hand but that the feel of Sango’s bum was truly exquisite and worth any punishment she meted out for him.
Yes, Miroku had heard all of their theories, but pretended he hadn’t. Instead, he just bided his time until Sango dropped her guard around him so he could once again feel the perfect curve under his fingertips.
