From the start, this seemed like a blend of Star Wars and Firefly. The way Yuffie implied that Leonhart might want to salvage the mayday ship seemed unprofessional for the navy. But that might have just been Yuffie. The way gummi was used in this story really surprised me. Actually I was taken by surprise a lot, from Sora knowing Riku's name, to the form Roxas takes, to the way Sora and Roxas hyjacked Gunblade. The gummi acting as both wall and door was cool and makes a lot of sense, not to mention the idea of the surface of a space ship being "tacky" was pretty humorous. How would a space suit decelerate? I really enjoyed Riku's near-infatuation with Sora.

Oh, man, this story is so geeky. >.< I have this thing where I take something, take it way too seriously, figure out how it would realistically work, and write fanfic about it. This time I started with gummi ships, and thought about a universe that really integrated them. I figured it would have a much more sci-fi feel than standard KH, so then I had to work out sci-fi re-imaginings of keyblades, Nobodies, etc. This isn't even my geekiest moment: once I did this with Pokemon ( ... )

I’m starting to get the capturing gummis thing. At the end of the chapter, I was wondering if stealing parts of a ship and integrating them might be something only Roxas could do, but I see how that would be important for a suffering fleet ( ... )

Nope, they're just gummis. Any ship's computer can shift them around, and if you have to you can just go out and move them around by hand. What Roxas can do is decide where to put them by himself.

And Kairi actually is in this story, eventually. Plus, since I'm changing the plot so much, I can fix another pet peeve of mine and make her not useless. But what I meant was, in canon, Sora seems to like Kairi. It just seems (at least by slash standards) that he likes Riku too. And it's hard to figure out how Sora would deal with that. Which is why I do things like the threesome in "Tell Me A Story" or the weird love pentagon in "My Other's Keeper" or the indecisive!Sora of "Scars" or "Land, Sea, and Sky ( ... )
