Natalia's gone back.

[And he's... not sure how he even feels about that, especially since it's the second time now. He's not the sort to broadcast his feelings on the matter anyway, so he'll leave it at that.]

[Locked to Dist - 75% Unhackable]

If you've prepared everything you need, it's about time we meet.

[Asch won't be around the house much ( Read more... )

[Dist gets the message about an hour later, but his response is almost immediate. Though he's honestly not sure if there's anything he could do at this point after staying up and pouring out all he knew from back home into private diaries and notebooks. Jade's theory...it was flawless. As much as he wanted to disprove it - perhaps a selfish reason - a part of his was so sure he couldn't.

Well...he did give Asch his word he'd try. That much, he could do.]

Understood. I'll see you at the Battle Dome's medical facility as soon as possible. [A pause.] ...And bring your little pet. The cheagle that I had experimented on. If it's capable of speech here, it may prove useful.

[As much as the little creature had tried to avoid him whenever he came over, Dist had caught glimpses of it out of the corner of his eye here and there.]

[....Oi, oi.]

Why do you need the cheagle? He's not going to want to see you.

[Yulia, does he really have to...?]

Honestly... Because, as I said, I had experimented on that particular cheagle. If it's the one I think it may very well be...then whatever information I get from it will be very helpful. Unless you'd like me to experiment on you instead, Asch. I wouldn't mind in the slightest, though I'd need to acquire a heavy sedative first...

[Just to shut you up.]

You bastard, that isn't funny...!

[Arrrrgh, he could kill you 8|]

Fine, I'll bring him. But don't push your luck.

[And you better believe he'll be armed.]

[Dist laughs darkly, though he's very careful not to press his luck indeed. He wants answers just as much as Asch does, after all.]

Good. I'll see you and your pet soon enough.

[Dist closes his journal and makes his way to the Battle Dome. It was quite a walk, even though he was a little closer - being near the library and all - but he'll increase his pace and may relatively good time in arriving there.]

[Asch follows soon after, heading right into the medical center and ignoring his discomfort as he checks around for Dist. Star is clinging nervously to his shoulder, obviously not happy about what's about to happen.]

[Dist's just testing a few of the machines in one of the rooms, making sure he knows how to operate them before actually...operating them. It doesn't take him very long at all to get a basic understanding, and he glances up once he hears footsteps outside the room we was in. Spotting Asch and the cheagle is relatively easy after that; they stick out.]

Inside here, Asch.

[At Dist's voice, Star immediately starts to scramble away to escape, but Asch grabs him by the scruff of the neck, holding him out so he doesn't start setting things on fire.]

We already talked about this, dammit! He's not... ugh. Stupid. Hey, Dist, say something nice to the damn cheagle already!

[Dist glances at the two briefly before looking over some of his notes. He had to kill time before they arrived, and had gone over what he remembered. His eyes lock on the terrified cheagle and, a second later--]

Which are you, original or replica? [He has a good guess, but might as well get it straight.]

[Fail, Dist. That is not "nice". Then again Asch can't lecture him, since... he is not the nicest person ever.

...HE'D DO IT ANYWAY THOUGH except Star shakily pipes up that he's the original. And that... is not what Asch expected to hear.]

...What? I thought you were the replica!

As I expected... [Dist jots something down on the margin of his notes and looks at the cheagle again. Sorry, Asch, you're getting ignored for just a few minutes.] What became of your replica? Did it pass away? If you could, include details. ...And speak up, I dislike repeating myself.

[Asch waits a moment, then gives the cheagle a nudge when Star remains silent. Sullenly, the cheagle continues.]

I died first. Then I felt something warm, and I woke up... and my replica was gone.

[Dist looked mildly surprised when the cheagle explained. The replica passed away as well? So the original experienced the actual Big bang, but...survived? How? Hmm, peculiar.]

I see... Thank you. [He scribbles more down, and motions towards a bowel of greens set out for the little animal. He can eat if he wants.] And you, Asch? Are you experiencing instability? If so, how long has it been occurring?

[...Tch. So it's on him now, is it? Asch sets the cheagle down, ignoring him as he warily stares at the food for a while. His instability... well, that's a harder thing to gauge.]

My body's been feeling strange since the replica came back to Luceti. So... roughly five months.

[He's rather uncomfortable with the implications of that, but he doesn't speak up.]

[Five months...? Asch's dissonance could have been occurring for five months? That was, well...it wasn't seven years. Dist was still amazed Asch lasted that long, honestly, but meant told him nothing. For all Dist knew, Asch could begin to fade away at any moment.

He stood, prepared the items to draw blood, and approached Asch with the needle.]

What I can gather, your body had been relatively stable without the replica's presence, as your fonons had no place to disperse to. Once he was brought here was the moment your dissonance began, and your body's fonon began to separate. ...I can't tell you how to stop it, but you've proven to be rather stubborn when it comes to dying, Asch. I can at least determine the rate of which your fonons are fading, and I can possibly find a way to prolong the Big Bang for as long as I can.

Though that all depends on my finding with your blood. If your fonons are disappearing at a significant pace, there is not much I can do. [He pushed up his glasses, sighing.] ...Roll back your sleeve.

[Asch pauses, then reluctantly removes his glove and pushes aside the fabric of his uniform. He hadn't been looking forward to this at all. Seeking a distraction, Asch recalls that there was something else he'd had to tell Dist, so...]

There's something you should know- I already died here once. It's been more than two years now, according to Luceti's calendar. [He pauses, and then adds in a voice as neutral as he can make it-] My fonons separated entirely. There was no Big Bang.
