My last week in Scotland was really good. And after that our adventures continued in Sweden - but more about that later!
After we came back from our trip to northern Scotland we hung out in Glasgow for a few days. For the most part we drew and hung around. But we also had a Swedish smörgåsbord to celebrate Midsummer. I had brought pickled herring,
gravad lax, gravlax sauce, and some other things. I also made Swedish meatballs from scratch. And we topped it of with nubbar (small assorted
snaps bottles). Steph's Dad is Danish so me and her we drank most of it. Molly did a pretty kickass job as well (not because she has Scandinavian genes, but just because she's awesome).
Steph went back to Canada. I was sad to see her go. But we had a great time and I am lucky I got to meet her! She is such a sweet and funny girl.
Me and Molly went for a little trip one afternoon, to St. Mungo's Cathedral. The structure of it was amazing and everywhere were these beautiful stained glass windows. I have like a gazillion stained glass window photos now, haha.
Another day, I got to meet Molly's friend Greig. And all three of us went to this awesome little tea-place called Cup for High Tea (or Afternoon Tea as it is also called). It was amazing. We got our own little teapots with the teas we ordered. And then this three-story tray with sandwiches, freshly baked scones (with clotted cream and jam), mini cupcakes, fruit-cake and small cups of pear cheesecake. SO DELICIOUS!!1!11!asdgjh And all for only £10! Apparantly they really like Molly there too. Because just before we left we got free cupcakes. FREE. CUPCAKES. 8D I sincerely recommend this place if you ever go to Scotland.
My last weekend in Scotland Molly's friend Jamie took me and her for a little road-trip over the weekend to his parents' place - which is in Aberlour (north again). The lived in a friggin' mansion! @ _ @ So posh. A really beautiful house. And his Mother was the perfect hostess. We felt completely spoiled, haha.
During our trip there we went to a guided tour of Glenfiddich whiskey distillery, to the sea, to
Ballindalloch Castle, and took several walks with the dogs in the beautiful area around the house. Thanks for the great trip, Jamie! <3
When we came back after the weekend we just had a couple of days left before going back to Sweden. But we managed to walk around Glasgow some. I did a little bit of shopping, visisted
Forbidden Planet (Jan introduced me to this chain first in London) among other shops. And we went to another place with High Tea, called Brew-ha-ha. All-in-all my trip to Scotland was amazing. I was so lucky with the weather too. Barely any rain at all. It only ever rained on me one time - the last day.
St. Mungo's Cathedral there with the copper roof.
Stained glass windows inside.
These are new and made by local schools and colleges.
The Necropolis which belongs to St. Mungo's.
High Tea! At Cup.
My free cupcake. <3
Outside Glenfiddich destillery, which was composed of many buildings. We got to see all of the factory and it's different sections, then storage, and the shop of course.
Molly posing in front of one of the machines.
Yay, whiskey!
Jamie, Molly and me. This is from the destillery as well. We got to try a 12, 15 and 18-year-old whiskey. Now, I'm not a huge whiskey fan, but when you go to Scotland...
Jamie shopping delicious food for us!
Me with Jamie's two dogs; Susie and Sally. Kisses.
SILLY HATS!
Molly bought this shirt for me. I felt so spoiled, haha. But we match and the shirts are so pretty and perfect.
And then we went to the sea! Molly found a water-living snail.
Puppies!
Molly is also excellent at finding and catching crabs. This little guy was so cute. And then he ran and jump down onto the sand and dug a hole to hide in within seconds.
We also found these cute snails when out walking. I LOVE SNAILS.
So beautiful in the evening.
But then Molly tripped and fell on the asphalt. And hurt her knee. She got this pretty band-aid though...
At Ballindalloch Castle. Thw view from one of the windows. You weren't allowed to take any photographs within the castle. But since, technically, this isn't of anything inside the castle I was safe.
Loved this.
By the fountain in the garden.
HECK YES.
Cuties! :D
High Tea at Brew-ha-ha!
Molly had soup!
And well, that was my trip to Scotland. Immensely enjoyed. I would love to come back!
