The first week of art school is already over! :O It went by so fast, and yet it feels like more than a week passed. We did so much, hehe. It was really good too, I'm loving it already.
The first day we got an introduction to the school and everything. We have then been doing exercises to get to know each other - both in my class and in the second-years' class. We did some collaborative painting, collaborative portraits (3 x 3), colour-coded portraits, still life, land art and alot of other things.
I'm really proud of my land art "sculpture" (?), so I'll show some pictures here. I got the idea randomly after I had looked at some photos of other land art. It was a little hard to take photos of - but it looked great up front and it was clearly visible what it was. In case you're having a hard time discerning what it is... it's Tic-tac-toe (Luffarschack).
It's hanging from see-through chords - like the ones you're use on a fishing rod, but they are just barely visible. The crosses and circles are strung up like that too. If you're standing a few feet away it truly seems as if it is floting in the air by itself. Kind of a cool effect!
From a distance.
My partner in crime; Jonathan is adding some final touches.
I don't do sculptures or installation art, so this was a refreshing change. I might actually do more land art. It was so much fun! And I have lots of more ideas. It is also really cool to just leave a piece of artwork out in the forest like that. People who find it must be pretty amused/apalled.
If anyone living in the area want to see it in real (if it's still there of course) - it's behind Backens Kyrka down by the river.
Today I had my first life drawing session ever actually! We will have life drawing every Friday from now on, and all of next week too - to learn the basics. Today was more for fun, we just kept on drawing. I scanned some of the sketches I did, it could be fun to look back after I graduate and see how much I have evolved.
These ones we actually did at the end of the session, also the longest ones; 10-12 minutes. We also had one student from the second year give us some C&C.
We started out with these. 8 minutes.
3 minutes.
1 minute!

So, it was a great first week. But I was so tired after each day was over. I am definitely looking forward to next week though. It will be awesome! :D
