Snippets

These are not drabbles. These are random passages from stories I haven't actually written that pop into my head. Because I'm bad at finishing things. And at starting them!

Some of these are really short. For some of them, I actually have a longer version written. Mostly fanfics, with one original at the end.

Dissidiathing - I wanted to finish this before I started Duodecim, but it didn't end up happening. I got stuck on Kefka. It's basically a very depressing little thing about what all the villains would do if they actually won.

She sees a splash of color against the dark rocks, and smiles to herself as she spots her favorite toy. She let him loose a few days ago, letting him get a head start before she felt bored enough to begin her hunt. Now she feels like she could use some fun, and she dives towards the little red flicker, ready again to remind him why he should crave the embrace of the Void.

Golbez walks with purpose across the dark beach, stopping only when he realizes that his brother is no longer following him. He turns, and searches briefly for Cecil, whose black armor is difficult to spot in the permeating darkness. He finally spots him, and as he walks up, he finds his younger brother is staring at the base of the cliff, at a smattering of EX crystals and a dark smear of blood.

"I wonder which of my friends was decimated here," the ex-paladin murmurs.

"They no longer matter," Golbez says, and though he is uncomfortable with his brother's obvious sadness, he makes sure to sound confident and commanding. "Come."

"Of course, brother."

Kingdom Hearts Snippets - The first one could be from anything, but all of these are more or less from the same story. I don't really think it's a very good story, but I like the images I conjured up. And it was fun writing Donald. Why don't more KH fics actually utilize the Disney characters? (Seifer was fun too, though.)

"Oh no," Donald quacked. "You're about to do something stupid, aren't you?"

Sora's smile faltered a little. "What makes you say that?"

Donald huffed, uncrossing his wings to poke Sora hard in the chest. "Because the last time you smiled like that, you stabbed yourself in the chest with Riku's keyblade!"

"Th-that worked out in the end! And this will too!"

"Oh brother."

~~

"Yeah, but..." Sora trailed off, looking his nobody in the eye. "You should meet up with Riku and Kairi as soon as you can."

"Yeah, I know. I'll-"

Roxas was cut off by Hayner catching up to them and slinging his arm around his shoulders.

"Don't worry, Sora," he said. "We'll look after this idiot for now."

Roxas blinked at him in astonishment. "Wha-"

"We're not gonna let you just go off on your own, are we, guys?"

"Of course not," Olette said, standing just off to the side.

"Definitely not," Pence panted, leaning on his knees as he tried to catch his breath.

"But-" Roxas stared at them, bewildered. But you don't even know me; but none of that was real; but -

"As if you lamers can even fight," Seifer said, giving Hayner a not-too-light shove back towards Pence and Olette.

"WEAK," Fuu contributed.

"We'll hafta stick around just so these mooks don't get hurt, ya know?"

Seifer sighed dramatically and looked up at the sky. "It's a tough job, being the disciplinary comittee. We always have to go out of our way to protect the members of Twilight Town." Vivi nodded in agreement as Seifer glanced back at Roxas. "All of them."

Hayner glared after the four of them, rubbing his chest where Seifer pushed him. "We don't need your help!" he shouted, running to catch up again. Pence sighed and huffed after him, Olette smiling and keeping pace with the slower boy.

Roxas just after at them all, still utterly confused. "...What?"

Sora shut his eyes obediently. He leaned against the wall of the castle, and when Roxas stayed silent, he felt himself relax. With the wind blowing gently through his hair and his mild exhaustion from the battle earlier, he felt sort of like he was still moving, gliding through the air and turning in spirals but always -

- falling. Sora opened his eyes to a gentle darkness, his arms out for balance as he fell slowly downward. It wasn't frightening - it wasn't the harsh darkness he'd spent so much time fighting; it was more like the darkness in your bedroom when you're trying to fall asleep, comfortable and safe; and his fall seemed slow and controlled, a bit like the way he entered Wonderland for the first time.

At length he saw a glimmer of light below him, and he landed gently on his toes with a light 'tap.' Blinking in the soft light, Sora turned around, taking in the strange surroundings. Surrounding him was that same comforting darkness, going up and out and all around him, but beneath his feet was a circular platform, almost like glass, glowing ever so slightly, the varied colors forming a sort of picture he couldn't quite make out from this angle.

Sora stepped carefully around the perimeter of the platform, looking down at the stained glass to try and see the full picture. "I've been here before," he said.

"I should hope so," Roxas said. Sora looked up to see him standing nearby, back in his Organization jacket, but unzipped, still wearing the black and white pajamas underneath. "It's your heart."

Jake and Ferrin thing - And here's the promised original story. I'm having trouble getting it started. This is such a boring beginning! Gah.

"Calm down, Jake," Ferrin laughed, heaving his suitcase out of the trunk of the taxi. "I'll be on my best behavior, promise."

"You'd better," Jake said. "I don't need you telling my parents you're from outer space or whatever."

"I won't," Ferrin insisted. "I do know what's appropriate, okay?"

"Yeah, yeah." Jake finished paying the cab driver and grabbed his bag from Ferrin.

I thought I had some more of these... maybe I'll make a habit of posting them.

On a completely different note, does anyone have any advice on how to sleep through the night? I've been having the worst insomnia lately. :(

And while I'm jumping from topic to topic, Torchwood is an awesome show.
