YOU & JIN LA tix....the real deal

Apr 15, 2010 22:37

So leave it up to Johnny's Jimusho to find a way to prioritize Japan-based fans and screw over non-Japanese fans. I, like many of you, was stalking Ticketmaster this morning, refreshing pages, and such (during a class lecture I might add) for about 10 minutes before and 5 mins after 10am PDT. I was excited that we were gonna have an opportunity to use it to buy tickets for a concert, and not have to worry about a lottery or anything like that. I thought, "This is great!! 'Cause this is how we normally buy tix for a concert."
However, after a few minutes of Ticketmaster not doing anything, I went to the YOU & JIN LA site, and clicked on the All American Tickets link, where I found the Japanese website selling tickets. The site is clearly geared towards a Japanese audience, and even though the site is also in English, I feel like being able to read Japanese and understand Japanese websites worked to my advantage. It wasn't just that tickets were disappearing by the second, but it was the classes of tickets being sold. It seems as though the front and forward sections on the main floor and much of the VIP sections were being sold on this site. Ticketmaster seemed to only have tickets in the back sections of the main floor and balcony. Although there were a few seats available in the VIP sections. When I saw this, I began to think about it...(because that's what Sociologists do)...and then started to get pissed...
It's bad enough that foreigners can't get access to tix to concerts in Japan, by any other means than the expensive black market/shady auction circuit....Queen of Pirates 2008 $$$, thank you very much. But when acts come to here, we can't get access either. It's as if they were just creating another destination for Japanese-based fans, rather than thinking of it as an opportunity for foreign-based fans to come out and support their favorite artists. What's that about? I mean, Jin said that he was excited about bringing his act/performance to his foreign fans. But it's as if Johnny's could care less. They don't even realize the unlimited potential of a foreign-fan market. I know this is something that has been said for years, but I think it's about time for it all to stop. At a time when the Japanese economy does not have the luxury of turning away money generating opportunities, the powers that be should think long and hard about what they are doing. It sucks to feel unappreciated.... Perhaps that's why Jin is breaking out of the norm for idols, and doing his own thing.
Anyway, this little rant was a chance for me to put some thoughts out there. I would be interested in hearing what the rest of you think about it.

On an ending note, I was able to get (I think, still waiting for the seat assignment....gotta luv ordering things online with Japanese companies...nothing is every finalized without at least 3 emails) a ticket for the Saturday show in VIP 3 section and for Sunday 1pm in the front middle S 102 section.
See y'all there!!

you & jin in la
