Summer Shopping Sucks

Ah, the bonus points of living in London again: being able to wander into the centre last Saturday and try out a few models just by wandering down one road (including pretty much every EEE model in existence).

I don't really need a 120Gb HDD, but 8gb is a little on the small side. Given this will probably replace my current laptop as my "random stuff" machine, I would quite like to go back to having an hdd in the laptop that's large enough to store a copy of my music collection (~20-something gb - current laptop is 60gb, but I have too much other crap on it), and even without that I can easily eat my way through 8gb of random other misc probably without even blinking.

I'm less concerned about Apple's prices, more a matter of hating their design decisions - OS X makes me feel like I'm trapped in a little claustrophobic box, and I won't surrender to the iPod masses despite my need want for a new media player of decent storage size. That, and they haven't got a netbook-like device (ok, there's the Air, but it's a tad too big and *stupidly* expensive, even for Apple)

Yup, 8 gig is easy to fill and even if you use the extra SD slot you only get another 8 (I think).
*g* Those were the days, when you could back-up everything on a zip disk... playing Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. We totally live in the future.
