All right, it's been a while since I did a challenge post, and I must say, I've been disappointed here. Neither of my last two have gotten any bites. Tsk tsk. Not that anyone is REQUIRED to participate, but the idea behind it is to give you all a chance to THINK, to REASON, to break free from focusing on your daily drabbles and dramas, to use brain cells that might be gathering a few cobwebs. Like spring cleaning for your mind!
Now, I think we have some new people getting to see this sort of thing for the first time, so let me quickly go over what this is all about:
-On a challenge post, I will ask a question or make a statement that may or may not be in accordance with my personal beliefs with the intent of having ANYONE who comes across it to voice their opinions (and, of course, the reasoning behind such opinions) about it via the comments.
-Everyone is then welcome to discuss the topic amongst themselves, with me, or even just posit to their hearts' content about it.
-Because everyone is welcome and all opinions are encouraged, I ask that everyone remain respectful of all the opinions and reasoning presented. It's perfectly okay to disagree, but it is NOT okay to flame, troll, bitch, insult or otherwise fight. That's not what this is about.
Here is today's challenge:
In the following scenario, there is a population, which, unfortunately, has limited resources to support itself--limited enough that to evenly distribute all the resources would produce inadequate amounts for all members of the populace. Now, conventional wisdom states that every member of this population is granted equal importance, however, not all members are created equally. Most are more or less on the same level with each other, but some are weaker in certain attributes (and without adequate resources are likely to die off from the group, and will likely require extra resources to be on par with the average members) and some are advanced/elite in regard to these attributes (and could probably make do with less-than-adequate resources, but could truly thrive and excel with adequate supply). Additional resources will be very difficult, if not impossible to come by.
What course of action should be taken in order to sustain this population?
