Welcome to my first. And also that of my sister-in-law (it is also her anniversary today, so yay!). Right now, I've got two babies taking nice naps. ^_^ I didn't get anything for Mother's Day, but I'm not really surprised. After all, it isn't like my son is old enough to give me crayon-drawn cards and macaroni pictures, nor do I have a husband or significant other to give me cards from "the both of us." It's okay, since there will be other years for such things. ...of course, it doesn't change the fact that I'm more and more longing for the gentlemanly courtship and kneeling proposal with the diamond ring in the black velvet box, the beautiful wedding and joyful new life with the handsome and charming husband/father/provider who doesn't mind an instant family, complete with all the happily-ever-after, Hollywood-generated trappings. *sigh* I want to be married, and preferably sooner rather than later. ;_; I know perfectly well it's not likely to happen that way, but a girl can dream, can't she? I mean, after all, when it seemed everyone around me was having babies and I started wanting another in its own time following my miscarriage, lo and behold, I had a son the next year almost just the way I had imagined it, so just maybe...?
I saw
dmoira on Friday, and we had a gals' night in, eating Chinese food and watching rented movies. We watched "Happily N'Ever After" (which was all kinds of star-studded adorable, not quite "Shrek" per se, but still cute) and "Stranger Than Fiction," which was surprisingly good considering I'm not much of a Will Ferrell fan (sorry, folks, but loud and childish does not generally equal funny in my book). But, he wasn't loud-and-obnoxious!Will Ferrell for this movie. As a matter of fact, his character was pretty bland, but in a good way. ^_^ And, all I can say about the premise (a.k.a. a writer is working on her latest novel, and it turns out her main character is a real living person whose life she's unwittingly penning), is that, at least in the fantasy genre, you don't have to worry about something like this. Of course, if it IS possible for such a thing to occur, then somewhere, I've got an elf with a MAJOR bone to pick with me. ^_^;; We also rented "Marie Antoinette," but I've not had an opportunity to watch it just yet.
In other news, I'm doing some reformatting of my Mirlivas dictionary--believe me, it needs it, between inconsistent labels, mislabels, all that jazz... During this process, I intend to add some more vocabulary to it here as well, so I'll give a heads-up when I've done enough work on it for the time being, especially for all of you in
iladala.
ETA: I got pressies and cards after all! A necklace from my parents and two books from
dmoira! ^_^<3
