My gods--twice in one day! HOW?!

So, yeah, holy WTF.

Okay, in relation to my mad-dash costume-making spree here (and all in preparation for the Star Wars Premiere. Bloody hell, I tell you, I'm gonna be the best-dressed there WITH an entourage if it fucking KILLS me.), I had to run out to grab some extra thread and Velcro. Apparently, I overestimated how much red thread I owned, and I picked up some extra black thread, just to be safe.

So, anyway, I pick out my thread, and I'm standing in line and being waited on and all that grand stuff. There's a little old lady in line behind me (not surprising, considering it's a fabric store), and as the cashier is preparing to ring me out, the lady says, "I don't think she has the right kind of thread. That's SHINY."

....Lady, are you fucking kidding me?

First of all, considering the nature of the costumes I'm making right now (dancing girl, domo, and owner), the shiny factor is a GOOD thing. These outfits are meant to be on the flashy side. Secondly, the particular thread I picked up is Coats All-Purpose Dual Duty. I've been using this stuff for a FUCKING DECADE--it's good stuff, and, like it says, it's ALL-PURPOSE. Thank you very fucking much for your concern, but I know what I'm doing. Yeesh.

Of course, now that I think about it, whenever I've gotten interfacing lately (namely the fusible kind), the cutters always ask me whether or not I want instructions. Ok, this I can understand as being part of the things they're required to ask. No biggie. What irks me is when they have to say, "Are you sure?" after I've told them, "No, I know how to use fusible interfacing, thanks." Seriously, I could go on a thirty-minute dissertation on the proper usage of fusible interfacing and they'd STILL ask me, "Are you sure?" Christ on crackers, people! Just because I look young, doesn't mean I don't know how to iron a thin piece of effectively felt and glue to a piece of fabric! After all, I'm a bloody cosplay diva who does her own work! Do I need to start carrying around my cosplay portfolio or what?

Someday, when I'm famous, this will end. *nods*
