Fandom Review 2012
Per the_moonmoth's suggestion, here I present the fandom review of 2012 as it pertained to me. Also posted to my tumblr.
1. Your main fandom of the year
A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones, at least in regards to time spent in it.
2. Your favourite film this year
Avengers or Hobbit, hard to say. Hobbit packs all of those nostalgic feels (and Aidan Turner and Richard Armitage) but Avengers was a lot of fun, too (and it had Jeremy Renner and Chris Hemsworth)...
3. Your favourite book this year
Toshokan Kiki, the third in the Library War series. Of course, ASOIAF was good, too. And I did the sixteenth reread of Beyond Sing the Woods which might just make it my favourite book of all time. And WH40k Gaunt's Ghosts series... Really, asking me to pick just one book is like asking water to be dry.
4. Your favourite album or song this year
Sabaton - Carolus Rex ("I was chosen by heaven, say my name when you pray to the skies, see carolus rise. With the lord my protector, make them bow to my will, to the skies, see carolus rise.") I love metal! Love, love, love...
5. Your favourite TV show this year
Once Upon a Time, hands down. I love the characters, pairings, story line, everything. And it has Robert Carlyle.
6. Your favourite LJ community this year
sansa_sandor definitely; very friendly and active community with many wonderful people present
7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year
Rumbelle fandom. It's a canon pairing with tons of fics and graphics and the actors are amazing and have perfect chemistry and it's the Beauty and the Beast so it generates so many, many feels... Stargate: Universe might have been one if it was longer and had more of Rush/Chloe scenes.
8. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year
Without going into too many details, the division in SanSan fandom over Broken Wing. It was painful to watch it unfold...
Well, that and the character development disaster that is the sixth season of Big Bang Theory. I mean, seriously, the fuck they are doing with those characters?
9. Your TV boyfriend of the year
Robert Carlyle. Seriously, that voice? And eyes? And ass? And everything about him, down to the way he smiles and how well he wears a beard and he keeps his hair longish and... god, I can't remember ever crushing this hard on an actor before. Ever.
10. Your TV girlfriend of the year
I'm tempted to say Sophie Turner because she is simply gorgeous and perfect but she's also underage so Emilie de Ravin comes second.
11. Your biggest squee moment of the year
Rumbelle hamburger date! I was bouncing in my seat and giggling the whole time (which means I had to rewatch that scene again to get the plot relevant details which led to more bouncing and giggling which led to more rewatching which led to... it's a vicious cycle)
12. Your most missed old fandom
Harry Potter. And Stargate: Universe reignited my feelings for Stargate SG1 (I miss Jack/Sam)
13. Your fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
I'm thinking of checking out the Legend of Korra fandom, since I recently saw the original Avatar: the Last Airbender series. (And FYI, Maiko? The perfect couple without a doubt)
14. Your biggest anticipation of the New Year
Hmm, hard to say. New seasons of my favourite shows coming up, I guess.
The Writing - quite a lot, actually, for several different fandoms. Could be found on my AO3 account (Mirime) or also ff.net Dark Ride and Mirime Kisarrastine accounts.
Jan- Role Reversal (Fairy Tail, Mystwalker lemon) and A Fusion Experiment (DBZ, Gotenks/Bran lemon)
Feb- two Bulma/Vegeta (DBZ) one-shots, started on Tricks (DBZ, Gohan attending high school fic)
Mar- Her Rebellion (DBZ, Goten/Bra) started
May- You Called Her A Little Bird (ASOIAF, SanSan implied, Sandor and Tyrion centric), Write Your Own Song (ASOIAF, SanSan) started
Jun- a whole bunch of kink meme fills over on sansan_got LJ comm, To Soothe A Furious Heart (ASOIAF, SanSan)
Jul- sansa_sandor comment fic meme fills, Friction started
Aug- Sansan and Jon/Arya ficlets for porn battle over on gameofships LJ comm, One Sentence Meme done for my main four ships in ASOIAF fandom
Sep- Born of the Greatest of Wishes (ASOIAF, SanSan and Jon/Arya), Mind and Heart (ASOIAF, SanSan and Jon/Arya) started
Oct- Lady's Prerogative (ASOIAF, pre-SanSan)
Nov- Blood Brothers drabble series started (ASOIAF, Sandor/Jaime BrOTP), To Not Be A Weakness (OUAT, Belle and Regina talking, Rumbelle implied)
Dec- No Consideration (OUAT, Emma meets Belle, Rumbelle implied), Attraction of the Distance (OUAT, Rumbelle Secret Sansa fill), fill for the got_fic exchange LJ comm (not yet posted in the main comm)

cca 156000 (and those are just the published ones... I have cca 10000 words worth of WIPs)
My best story(ies) of the year
Lady's Prerogative definitely. Tricks might also count, considering that it is quite popular and praised for a 'Gohan goes to high school' fic (there are tons of those out there so for one to stick out and be praised as original, well, it is a big compliment).
Most fun story to write
Mind and Heart because I get to write the future I want to happen (aside from Sansa being hurt, of course, but the rest of the backstory is so much fun to flesh out)
Sexiest story
Hmm, Role Reversal, I think. Dominant!Knightwalker rocks, especially when you combine it with her reluctance to admit to her feelings.
Story with the single sexiest moment
Friction and the SanSan 'moment' at the feast.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters
Friction. Before, I liked Catelyn, but didn't really see her written much about, nor sought out fics about her, which is natural since I mostly read post-series fics or ones set in KL so she didn't appear much. But once I decided to write Friction partially from her POV and I started getting into her head, wow! She quickly moved up on my list of fave characters and nowadays, one of my biggest pet-peeves is if her portrayal in fics is simplified (i.e. she is the villain standing in the path of the OTP's happily ever after *rolls eyes*)
Hardest story to write
Hmm. Actually, You Called Her A Little Bird and To Not Be A Weakness, because those two were my first fics for their respective fandoms and I always fret over the first ones, worrying they would be terrible.
Biggest disappointment
That I didn't manage to finish at least one of my WIPs.
Biggest surprise
The overwhelmingly positive reaction to A Fusion Experiment. When I first wrote it, it was a self-indulgence of highest order because there was NO fic for that pairing. NONE. And it was kind-of overlooked at first but then reviews started trickling in and now it's my second most successful one-shot to date (the most successful one is for one of the most popular pairings in another fandom). So that was surprising (as was the fact I didn't get flamed to hell and back for it, because the main pairing IS kind of icky).
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Finish some of my WIPs. Get that Warhammer 40k short story out.
