*ogles the La Tene cuff and the Gothic rose bracelet*

But augh, I really don't have that sort of money this year. Though... can I get back to you on this in December? I may be able to talk my granny into one of them as a Christmas gift...

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Will post and link. As an aside, how do you feel about rings?? I have tiny fingers but love silver and would be thrilled to celebrate personal goals with something made by you!! ♥

Thank you, that's really kind of you! I love making rings, I just don't make as many just on spec because if someone likes it but it doesn't fit, it's a problem. I particularly like making things which are going to be special to someone though and would really like to help you celebrate your goals <3

It's definitely a splurge, but I have the bracelet and the earrings, I might as well have the gothic rose necklace!

Now that's the best news I've had in a while, thank you! Just replied to your email :)

Wow, they're all SO beautiful! I wish I could afford to buy, but I've been ploughing every spare penny into my own business. That said, I'm glad you are pricing them as they deserve. So many people seem to think that items made from home should be cheaper than shops - drives me loopy.

Sorry for an 'unhelpful' reply, but I wanted to at least comment on the pretty!

*Goes back to coveting the gothic rose necklace*

Not unhelpful at all, it's lovely to hear from you and thank you, comments are always wonderful to get! I only heard about your new business the other day from sildil and I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but I wish you every success, go you! It takes a lot of guts and hard work to start up by yourself.

You're so right about the price thing. I felt terrible increasing my prices, but they're still less than they should really be and just because this is still technically a hobby doesn't make silver less expensive or the time spent on them any less! But you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Trust me, I know about coveting that necklace, I'd love one for myself, but I can never justify the time or the silver I should be using for other things!

Thanks! It's a huge leap and takes so long to build up your customer base. But if I don't get out of that chippy soon I'm going to lose my mind!

It must be even harder for you, working with high value items. But no sense at all in quite literally selling yourself short!

Oh squee! The little hare! With his little thruppeny* and pearl! Would he, perchance, be brooch-able?

*I am old enough to remember those, albeit not as legal tender, but they used to be quite common when I was a lad. Also those black and worn pennies with Queen Victoria on them, mumble drool time for my nap....

*grin* That one isn't because I've already set the stone, but I have another thrupenny (1899) and more pearls and can make another easily. I've checked and they don't seem to make brooch pins that small, but I can make it with a stick pin with a protector on the end so you don't get spiked. Have a look here, at the bottom of the page and you'll see the stick pin and protector side by side. Would something like that be ok? http://www.manchesterminerals.co.uk/acatalog/brooches-sterling-silver-findings.html

I'm just slightly too young to remember these coins, but not by much! And you're hardly old, you still wear killer heels and drink gin.

Yes, I had a feeling he might be a little small for a standard brooch-thingie - what I though of was having it hang from a horizontal pin, sort of like a medal, but the stick-pin would be absolutely fine if that isn't practical.

Never too old to be falling down drunk off your killer heels!

(also, is there a word for "irrational fear of making brooches"? Like pinbaubleophobia? Enquiring minds want to know...)

I was vaguely thinking about the medal idea too, but I couldn't find anything to make it work, unless I take a normal brooch back like this one http://www.cooksongold.com/Findings/Sterling-Silver-Brooch-Back-With-Revolver-Safety-Catch-Complete--prcode-NVR-201 and drill it to hang the hare-and-moon from. I could even pretty it up with another brass star on the bar bit. What do you think? I'd still have to remake the piece because I can't solder anything now the stone is set and buy another amethyst (though I had one but I haven't!), so it'd be about another £10 all told. Maybe email me to let me know if that sounds ok?
