I'm going to design something small and inexpensive which can be cast or made repeatedly and quickly/easily and sold (thanks
karadin, for the idea). The money will go to one of the charities involved in helping Japan as it deals with the aftermath of this awful disaster. I haven't decided which charity it will be yet and I will also be working with
gackt_army, so, please, watch this space as this is very much an initial post and as I co-ordinate with that comm, details may be subject to change.
When I have the piece ready, which will be in the next day or so, and it goes up, I'd be very grateful if my flist could spread awareness of it and buy if you can. Dispatch, if I need to get the piece cast, will be a couple of weeks.
Estimated cost will be a £12, roughly $20 donation, plus a tiny amount for postage as I have limited funds myself. I will be asking for payment to be sent to my paypal address so I can do the postage cost thing and can co-ordinate it all and will post a final donation total in time. If you would rather choose your own charity that's fine, but I'll ask for a small amount to cover postage to be sent to my paypal account. More details of all this when the piece is ready for sale.
I will not be taking any of the money aside from postage, my donation is my time and the money it will cost to cast the piece, all the money raised will all go to the relief effort.
My tsuba piece will also be up for auction as a one off, details to follow on that too.
Japan has given me a great deal and even if it hadn't, it's time to get on and do something to help this amazing and beautiful country and its people get over this tragedy.
