1. What were your favorite books when growing up?
Kindergarten/1st Grade: Paddington Bear
3rd/4th grade: Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle
Middle School: Support Your Local Wizard, by Diane Duane.
2. Name 3 candies that remind you of your childhood, and share some memories associated with them.
Spree: I
loved these when I was in 1st grade. I just saw these at the
supermarket again today, and bought some. I swear I haven't had
these in at least 10 years. For some reason, I'm reminded of
roller-skating.
Fun-Dip: Probably one
of the weirdest 'candies' out there. It was a paper package, and
in one pocket there was a spoon of sorts, and the other there was
powdered flavored sugar stuff. Kind of like the powdered
Kool-Aid. Anyway, you'd stick the spoon in the powder, then lick
it off. And after you were done with the powder, you'd suck on
the spoon because it was actually made out of candy, too. Anyway,
so in 6th grade me and this girl named Jasmine that I was wanting to be
friends with went to the movies. She had bought some Fun Dip
previously, and we ate it in the theater... I think it was the first
time I'd seen a movie without parents. We actually saw two movies
that day, the second one we didn't pay for because we were already in
the theater and only after I got home and talked to my parents did I
realize you're not supposed to do that.
Jolly Ranchers:
Reminds me of Halloween at my elementary school, since that was the
candy given out most often... also, for some reason, I'm reminded of
being on the school bus and sucking on those candies.
3. What Music did you listen to as a kid?
1st Grade: ... I used to dance around to "Can't Touch This".
3rd-5th grade: I listened to Radio AAHS... the kid station. They
played stuff like the Olsen Twins' "Double Up" and some Cheech Marin
song about a school bus.
6th Grade: R&B
7th Grade: The Beatles.
4. Are you still in contact with any of your childhood friends?
Yup. I've known
perfectlyclumsy since... well,
5th grade, at the minimum. I might've met her earlier, I'm not
sure.
