I was roasting carrots tonight, and since we had a fennel bulb from the CSA, I roasted it too, even though none of the adults in this house are fond of fennel, which is one of those licorice-tasting foods like anise. But I don't want to pass my food prejudices on to Nadia, so I figured I'd let her try it.

And lo and behold, when you roast fennel, the licorice taste mostly goes away and it's actually quite tasty. I have a new food.

Having kids has all kinds of unexpected side effects.
