Those humans, they all look alike

As I was walking back home from the garden on Thursday with an armload of collards and a purse full of tomatoes (I forgot to bring a bag), I caught sight of some teenage girls on bikes coming toward me on the street.

One of them reminded me so strongly of a teen I know in folkie circles that I did a double take. This would not be particularly notable except that the girl on the bike was black and the person I was reminded of was white.

This, of course, should not be all that remarkable either, since there's more genetic diversity within races than between them, and there's nothing so surprising about these two girls sharing facial features and expressions. I note it because it felt like something that went as it should in my brain despite social conditioning, without my conscious mind having to intervene, and that's always nice.
