more cousins!

Had a great visit yesterday with
thatpoetrykid,
scry_dragonfly and Verdi, Bear, and Terran. Good folks, good to see them. Terran Nadia learned that while cousins are still all interested in her (Verdi says 'Nadia is my favorite Tell.') and generally make for long and busy days when they visit, they do come in volumes not quite as loud as the first set she met. Which is perhaps for the best.

Despite a wasted drive thanks to the Childrens Museum of Science and Technology website lying, explicitly and unambiguously, about being open on Sundays in the summer, we had fun at the good old New York State Museum.
scry_dragonfly let me try out her new Maya Wrap, which Nadia promptly spit up  on in gratitude. But it worked far better for her than the Mamma's Milk pocket sling, is quite versatile, and distributed the weight across my back better than I would have expected. Neat.

They even came to potluck, along with another new family, and some old regulars who rarely make an appearance anymore, making it a very full house, with lots of kids. And as
syncretistfool noted, for having so many high-energy kids who didn't know each other bouncing around, they got along incredibly well, played nice, and generally made me feel good about the parents in my circle. It was fun even though Nadia got cranky before too terribly long.

This morning she was making a good stab at actually manipulating a teething dragonfly--not that she can actually move it intentionally, but it is the first non-cloth thing she's grabbed and waved about, and the first thing she seemed to have the idea that she might want to try to move intentionally. And she does like chewing on it. Oy. Teeth. At three months. Thanks goodness for teething tabs. (Pediatrician said not to worry about the tusk, as we are calling the one exiting the side of her gum, until she comes in for her next appointment. Inconclusive.)
