Woo!

I made a call to Cambridge today, because a few items on the papers they sent me don't really make much sense to someone who has studied in the Icelandic school system. The guy on the line was very nice and helpful. Finally I asked him if it was too late to change my mind about not being able to come to an interview. "Not at all," he replied, and asked me for my name.
I answered, "Miriam..." Then I hesitated, before I continued, very slowly, "Gerhardsdottir."
He asked me to spell that, and by the time I got to the 't', he said, "Oh, you're the woman from Iceland!"
I chuckled at being a celebrity in the admissions office of Cambridge for being (apparently) the only Icelandic applicant, and tried not to be too freaked out about being called a woman.
The guy added, "The 'dottir' is kind of a give-away."
Anyways, hew promised that he'd send me the date for my interview in the beginning of next week, so I'd have enough time to book plane tickets.
I'm going to England next month! Woo!
I asked my Dad if he wanted to join me, mainly because that way I'd have a manner of transportation. But since he's afraid of driving a car in England, he won't really be of any use. Except, of course, that he could take care of all the technical things, like booking flights and finding out which train is the most convenient, and that way I wouldn't have to think as much.
On the other hand, if I go by myself, I can do whatever I want. I mean, Dad loves me, but I'm sure he won't have the patience to spend half a day in Forbidden Planet (the English Nexus). I guess I could also go up north to Yorkshire to take a look at some of the other universities I applied to, go to Liverpool to see Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane, visit Jóhannes if I find out where precisely he is and send greetings to Elder Balla's parents whom I have never met, but I could find out if they are as tall as their son (:P).
I can't wait for December! Woo!
