2008 Questions:

1.What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Own a camera, join a D&D group, lose money due to inflation, get therapy and go to a friend's wedding.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't really make a lot of resolutions. Or at least I didn't write them down. Which might be the reason why I didn't keep a single one. I've been thinking about resolutions for this year, but I'll write them down when I have more time.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Amy gave birth to little Malcolm. Tanja had a baby too, but I haven't been as close to her since I graduated from high school. Didn't even know she was pregnant until a week before the kid was born...

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
Iceland, Finland, England, Denmark, Sweden and Germany.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A bigger bookshelf. And an engagement ring. :B

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I'm not good with dates. There are a lot of incidents I'll remember, but not the date when they happened.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I don't really know. I suppose it was an achievement not to lose my head after the bank crash in Iceland.

9. What was your biggest failure?
You can't count not taking out all my money in Euros as a failure, because there's no way I could have seen this economic crisis coming. While it's not a huge failure per sé, I do regret not talking Mika into coming to Festinord.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
A couple of flus, but nothing too serious.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I think I'll go with my shiny camera. :3

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
The American people who voted for Barack Obama. \o/

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Gordon Brown and the Icelandic banks and government.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Inflation. >:|

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I rediscovered the joys of reading books and being in love.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Eniga Meniga, ég á enga peninga... :P

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? I think I'm generally a happier person, simply because I understand the way my feelings work better now.
b) thinner or fatter? Probably thinner. And my clothes were already too wide for me last year. I really need to gain some weight!
c) richer or poorer? A heck of a lot poorer. >:|

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Reading books.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Waste time on silly internet games.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
At home, with my family. We baked cookies, had a lovely dinner, sang some carols, then opened presents. It was very cozy.

21. What was your favorite month of 2008?
September was pretty good. It had lots of friends and adventures and cuddles.

22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
I fell deeper in love with Mika, I think.

23. How many one-night stands?
Haha, none!

24. What was your favourite TV program?
I don't watch TV.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate is a pretty strong word. I've got three arch-enemies now that I didn't have last year (namely Dan Schneider, a really arrogant critic, Keiran Halcyon, who rewrote the Harry Potter-series with a self-righteous, violent slut named Rose Potter as the main character, and Gordon Brown, Prime Minster of Britain).

26. What was the best book you read?
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, hands down.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Nightwish. Thank you, Haukur! :D

28. What did you want and get?
A nice summer job.

29. What did you want and not get?
More time with Mika, financial security.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Sweeney Todd. There's just something about that film that really strikes me.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
The glorious age of 21. I had some friends over, we ordered pizza, skyped with Sólrún who was still in London, went outside for some hide-and-seek, then played a round of Munchkin.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting engaged. :B Boy, am I hopeless...

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
I don't think it was much different from the year before. I wore hats a lot.

34. What kept you sane?
Friends, books and music.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I don't know. This wasn't a year of great big celebrity crushes. I think I'll just say Johnny Depp.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The economic crisis, of course.

37. Who did you miss?
All of my friends, at one point or another. I missed Mika most of all, though.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Melissa.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
I think I'll echo María: Don't trust banks.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
They say our love won't pay the rent
Before it's earned, our money's all been spent
I guess that's so, we don't have a pot
But at least I'm sure of all the things we got

Sorry about the general lack of updates. I've just been busy, but I'm doing pretty well.

meme, christmas, melissa, poor, tanja, charles dickens, love, mika, festinord, maría, new year, john and amy, books, haukur
