I thought I'd copy
ernir and
sarahblack and write about my dreams.
1. Family
I want to get married and preferrably before I'm 30. I only want to get married once and it should be to someone I'm deeply in love with who is also my best friend. Then I want to raise a bunch of strong, independent, happy individuals. Additionally, I want to maintain a good relationship with my current family. Especially my brothers, since when my parents were out working, it was always just the three of us together, being up to mischief.
2. Friends
I have a lot of great friends now, which I don't want to lose touch with. I hope I will always be an important part in their lives and they in mine, rather than just being some girl they knew in high school.
3. Writing
It would be great to be a fairly known writer and to be able to make a living from writing. But if nothing else, I at least want to get published. I am good enough and I deserve it. And it would be absolutely fantastic to sit next to someone on a bus who's reading my book. And to be recognised by a stranger and told that they loved something I've written.
If I can't make a living from writing alone, I want to have a job that I'm happy with that doesn't make me feel out of place. I don't need to be rich, but I'd like to be well off enough so I don't have to worry about money and can go travelling once in a while.
4. Travel
I want to go to Scotland, Australia, the States, Canada and Japan at least once. I'd also like to travel more within Iceland, England and Finland (which I consider my three home countries). I haven't been to Stonehenge yet, for example. Or Lappland, where Santa Claus lives.
5. Reading
My reading list is looooong. But before I die, I must at least finish all novels by Pratchett and Dickens and all plays by Shakespeare. There's loads of other things I want to read, starting with all the unread books in my shelf. :P
6. Languages
First I want to perfect Finnish as much as I can. Then I want to learn Japanese and Russian. I also want to keep up the other languages I speak. This will enable me to become an international spy. Muahahaha!
7. Awards
The ultimate dream would be to receive the Man-Booker Prize. But it would be awesome enough to win any literary award, even if it's just a short story competition. When I was 14, I wanted to get the Nobel Peace Prize. It's not particularly likely, but it's nice to dream.
8. Schadenfreude
"It's German for being happy about somebody else's misfortune."
"That is German!"
~Avenue Q
I'm generally too nice for my own good, so it's okay for me to have a bit of a mean streak sometimes (or at least that's how I justify it). Once I'm wealthy and famous and happily married, having seen the world and being in a good job, it would be immensely satisfying to meet the people who made my life hell back when I was a kid and to see that I am so much better off than them.
Okay, I think I'm more mature than to need that confirmation. Besides, it's so many years ago that it doesn't matter anymore.
...Then again, some of the emotional scars might never heal, so... *makes faces at bullies*
9. Most Important of All
Quite simply, I want to be happy, even when things aren't going my way. And I want to make a difference in the world, even if it's just a few people around me. I want to know that if it wasn't for me, the world would be bleaker and less happy than it is now.
Now homework!
