Yuletide Reveal and Shameless Self-Promotion: Spill

Jan 01, 2009 14:03

At long last, I can reveal to the world that I am responsible for the Cleveland Hellmouth
Spill
written for the Yuletide 2008 challenge for binz.

Summary:
Bob and Harry take a road trip to help Spike and Xander deal with some very unmixy things on the Cleveland Hellmouth. (29,847 words!!!)
Those of you who've been paying attention might well have guessed I was the author, given that a) I'm from Cleveland and b) I've had Spander on the brain all year long and c) I've written DF before.

It's many firsts for me (first story set in my hometown; first posted loooong story; first crossover; first with a plot of this sort). So I was learning to do things in the writing of it. I also managed to finish it despite three kids and time sharing on my husband's computer after my laptop died.

In any case, Feed the Muse (ideally by commenting directly on the YT archive, as it helped me very much to look at last year's 15 comments on my 2007 Regenesis story as I was gathering up the confidence to post this one, and should I ever be so foolish as to do this again, I expect that I'll need just as much reassurance) So far, prior to the unveiling, I've had 6 readers comment, and they all liked it, and I like it, but YMMV, especially on a long road trip.

I've never written one of those commentary things to go with a story (and I can't even remember what they're called right now), but this story is one I'm considering doing it for, though I dunno if anyone would be interested or even how to go about it. But of all the things I've written, this seems like one I've got things to say about, process-wise.

Anyway, Happy New Year! And I look forward to reading and writing more in the new year!
