Summary: Cat AU. Jaejoong tries once again to persuade Changmin to help out in the kitchen.
Author's Note: I was working on a MinJae one-shot and a 2U one-shot the past week, but had to drop them both because I was inspired by a gifset I saw on Tumblr and decided to write this instead. Sorry I couldn't write something in time as a Christmas present to my readers. I hope you had a great Christmas yesterday. ^_^

"The Christmas decorations are finally up and all that's left is the food," Jaejoong said thoughtfully, his tail swishing back and forth as he stood mesmerized by the pretty Christmas tree in the middle of the living room. He looked around the empty room and frowned,
"Now, where did that rascal disappeared off to?"
He remembered after their master had gone off to visit his friend for the morning, that Changmin had also left the dining room. But he knew that Changmin was still around the house. There was no way that the other cat was willing to go outside in the cold. Changmin always liked the warm weather.
"Master would want the house to be warm with Christmas scents when he comes back from his visit, so I have to find Changmin quickly and get everything done," Jaejoong mumbled and started his search for the younger cat.
He ascended the stairs and went straight for the bedrooms first, but found them all to be empty. He came back downstairs and searched in their master's study room, but the other cat wasn't there either. He then stepped into the library room and found the other cat there, sitting at the window seat, cuddled among the fluffy pillows with a thick, wooly blanket around his shoulders, and an open book in his lap. Jaejoong immediately smiled at the image and it wasn't until he was a few feet away, that the other cat was startled out of his thoughts.
"Hyung."
"There you are. I was looking all over for you. Why didn't you come and help me with the decorations?" Jaejoong wondered, stopping next to the other cat and peering down at the book in the other's lap. Changmin quickly tucked the book away in the space between his body and the window, but Jaejoong had already saw what the book was. He should've known. Changmin had always read, How The Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss every Christmas Eve without fail and today was no exception. He smiled inwardly at how cute the other cat was being and knew that even if it was ten or twenty years into the future, Changmin would always remain like the little child he was inside, and Jaejoong wouldn't want it any other way.
"What? Why should I help you with that?" Changmin whined with a sneer.
"To make things more fun. Besides, it's harder for one person to do everything," Jaejoong said with a pout.
"But you're finished, right? Or are you here because you want me to help you?" Changmin asked, pulling the blanket tighter around him.
"I'm finished decorating the Christmas tree ... But I'm here for another thing."
"What?"
"I wanted to make something warm for Master to drink when he gets back, so I thought that this will be the perfect time for you to continue with our cooking lessons," Jaejoong said with a smile. Changmin groaned and turned away, arms crossed about his chest,
"I thought we were done with that?"
"Well, are you confident about your cooking skills? Will you be able to cook for master when I fall sick one day? No, right? Now, stop running away and come with me," Jaejoong reached out and grabbed at Changmin's upper arm. He tried to tug the other cat off the window seat, but Changmin refused.
"Please? I really want you to learn how to cook. It'll make master happy," Jaejoong tried. Changmin glared out of the window and pursed his lip,
"Why should I have to make master happy?"
"Wha -- Of course you have to make master happy! Isn't that our duty as pets?" Jaejoong was surprised. He knew that Changmin was a rebel, even their master had agreed that the younger cat's behavior was inappropriate and should be righted, but over time, the man knew that it was part of Changmin's personality and left it alone.
"If you wanted to make master happy, then you should do it. I can just wait for him here," Changmin said. Jaejoong sighed and tugged once more, this time jostling the other cat out of his spot. Jaejoong smiled at the other cat's shocked reaction and successfully pulled Changmin out of the room and into the kitchen.
"Now," Jaejoong said and tied an apron around his waist,
"Will you get the bag of apples that I bought from the store this morning and wash them in the colander?"
Changmin mumbled under his breath at how commanding the other cat was and opened the refrigerator to pull out the five pound bag of apples. He tore open the plastic bag and placed the apples in the colander before running them under some warm water.
"Good," Jaejoong said once he closed the pantry door shut with his shoulder. He placed all the spices he needed onto the kitchen counter, then took an orange and a lemon from the fruit bowl, and added that to the bowl of apples,
"Once you're done washing them, put the colander into another bowl to catch the water and bring them over here to the counter. When you're here, I'll teach you how to peel the apples."
Changmin let out a resigned sigh and shut the water off before following instructions and placing the colander into another bowl and bringing the bowl of fruits over to the kitchen counter where the older cat was waiting with a cutting board and a knife.
"Okay, now watch me," Jaejoong grabbed an apple in one hand and the knife in the other. Changmin watched albeit reluctantly as the other cat made a cut on the apple before carefully, but quickly peeling the layer of skin off of the apple. Although on the outside, Changmin's facial expression and body language portrayed the fact that he didn't really care about what the other cat was doing, but inside, he was surprised and amazed that the older cat had managed to keep the apple peel intact all the way through.
"I want you to peel it like this. Can you do it?"
Changmin wanted to rub the taunting smile off the other cat's face. He stood up straighter and stepped closer,
"Of course. It's easy."
Changmin placed a cut on his apple the way he saw Jaejoong did on his and began peeling, carefully putting his thumb over the peel as he slid the blade under the skin of the apple. But before he could go any further, the blade cut through the skin instead of sliding underneath it, causing him to peel only an inch of skin off the apple. Changmin looked up just in time to see the older cat hiding his laugh. He dropped his knife onto the counter and threw the apple back into the bowl,
"You knew that I wouldn't be able to do it from the very beginning, right? So, did you having fun seeing how pathetic I am?"
"That was your first try, Changmin-ah," Jaejoong tried to soothe the angry cat, "Anyone would end up the same way you did. It was after many unsuccessful tries, that I finally mastered how to peel an apple or any type of fruit. With more practice, I'm sure you'll be able to do the same. And I wasn't laughing at you because you failed. You sounded so confident earlier, that it contradicted with your results and I couldn't help but laugh."
Jaejoong wanted to pull at the younger man's cheeks and kiss the frown away. He sighed,
"Fine, I'll peel all the apples. So will you get me a pot from the cupboard and throw in four cinnamon sticks? I will cut the orange and lemon peels for you to put in the pot as well."
Changmin quietly walked over to the cupboard and easily brought the pot down. He turned back to the other cat and saw how perfectly the man was peeling the skin off of the orange and lemon.
"Tonight," Changmin whispered with determination, "I'll practice when everyone's asleep."
"Why are you standing over there for? Hurry and bring the pot over here," the other cat called out. Changmin sneered and walked forward,
"I'm coming. I'm coming."
