We've got to fight - for our right(s)

Apparently bailiffs have had the right since 2004, in the UK, to enter a home by force in order to take collateral in lieu of loan repayments, which was underpublicised so the poor bailiffs may not have knocked down all the doors they could have done...

Now they're talking about giving them the legal right to use force against individuals when seizing property.

Looking at the comments would lead you to believe that more people dealing with the bailiffs do so when their details have been used fraudulently/when they are pursuing previous occupants than when the right person has been located. Which may be a slight exaggeration, but...

The idea of anybody having the legal right to break into a home is disturbing; for them to be able to take valuables using force if necessary - potentially against somebody arguing that they were there erroneously or that the possessions they're seizing do not belong to the debtor in question - seems outrageous! And it would be so hard to regulate - "he threatened me so I hit him with the bat" versus "I asked him who he was and why he'd just kicked my door down before he assaulted me repeatedly with a bat" and the like... It's a horrific idea.

Not amused. Since Facebook appears to be the most powerful political tool currently known to man, I have created a facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=41918726908
