Go Go Go Joseph...

Not Joseph, but go go go! het_reccers  is having a poll here to find out what fandom their next challenge should focus on, and SG-1 is only seven votes behind Fringe. I know there are at least seven of you on my flist who watch or like SG-1 (or Amanda Tapping, or RDA, and I think those should count), so everybody go vote in the poll!

I mean, I know I want to ( Read more... )

BUT THEY ARE NOT GAY!! EITHER OF THEM.
Exactly. I mean, I guess the most popular thing is to play on the whole "I'm not gay and I'm in the military...but I just need a man's cock for release." And I'm like...honestly, they sound more like prison inmates who aren't gay but need sex than (best) friends. Who are straight. Like you said. The only way I can mentally okay slashyness is when it's actually OT3 and loving Sam came first and it's the apocalypse so every peen counts.

I wanted it to be Jack's baby, but then Sam probs would have mustered out altogether or applied for an honorable discharge and tried to retire early instead of just taking maternity leave. Because otherwise she would've probably been dishonorably discharged :\. So the only way for Sam to have the baby is if Pete is still in the picture, and I am just not okay with Sam stooping so low and using Pete like that. So I prefer to think it was Pete's from the beginning. Especially because it would have been supremely creepy if the baby was Martouf and Lantash's.

However, I do like to think that most of the Sams were in some way, shape or form involved with Jack. Mostly cause if it were Pete, I think they would've outright said it instead of teasing us like they did. Or I want to think that.

My viewpoint? Jack was retired. Or in Washington like in "our" universe. No seriously, they are so totally canon in my head from season 9 and onward.

I need to re-watch that ep now ("now" as in "soon") actually so I can form a more qualified opinion on this, I feel. LOL It's just that the entire Martouf thing pisses me off to NO END every single time I watch it. UGH.

Hurr durr hurr, I didn't even think of him being retired because I am all biased and annoyed by the fact that he's not retired in SGU. SO THEY ARE NOT SLEEPING TOGETHER FROM SEASON 9 ONWARDS GRR ARGH.

But that's actually a very good, very valid viewpoint and now my personal canon that he was retired in her reality <3.

I actually couldn't be pissed about the Martouf thing because as wrong as it was (SAMANTHA YOU PUT THIS BEHIND YOU ALREADY, SO REALLY?!), I just wanted the poor creature to Get Sum, and every time I see JR Bourne now I just think of that scene from "Stuck" and don't mind him being there so much. *leers*

Oh, they still are in my personal canon. For serious. (Heck, in my personal canon they're married.) It works in my head. Not direct chain of command, yadda yadda yadda. Totally together.

I was totally pissed because she's with Jack in my personal canon (honestly, so many hints throughout the show as well... I mean, come on), and because it was even "her" Martouf!! IT WAS SOME RANDOM MARTOUF. And him... why did he go after "our" Sam instead of one of the others? Seriously, that entire scene just... irked me. Totally rubbed me the wrong way. In every single way.

Also, I'm vice versa. I can barely watch "Stuck" because he played Martouf. LOL

Technically it's still direct chain of command, because he's in charge of the Stargate program on the highest level. It was okay when she was at Area 51, I think, but once she transferred back...

Yeah, that whole thing about him not being *her* Martouf and her not being *his* Sam (when he had the whole roomful of them) did seem a little unbelievable to me, and I remember thinking that, but I kind of suspended my disbelief because it made me sad. I mean the whole damn episode was about second chances, and what would you do, and they all just seemed wasted. (But oh god the Daniel and Janet reunion, be still my heart).

Stuck just makes me lol because I watched That Scene on YouTube (WHERE CAN I GET A REAL VERSION OF THE MOVIE?!) and I could barely recognize him with the longer hair, and it seemed to me more like the two actors that are friends just being goofballs (while, er, doing a sex scene) than Martouf and Sam or anything like that.

Though mostly during That Scene in Stuck, I wasn't thinking anything at all. Except "Oh my god he legit, for reals, just stuck his hand in her bra and fondled her boob. Lucky bastard.".

OKAY, so I'm finally back to this discussion! LOL

Sam/Jack, and them being together... I just... cannot even think about them not being together. I don't care if they got together while she was at Area 51, and they just kept at it, or if they got together at a later point, because I just CANNOT believe that they are STILL holding off. I just refuse to believe it. And if they are, they have definitely made some sort of commitment/promise to each other.
Yes, there's still a chain of command, but he's not her direct CO anymore (though TBH, I haven't really kept up with the chain of command structure in SGU lol), and surely there's someone else she could report to.
I just... No. They are so together in my canon. I just can't accept it any other way. lol

I don't have a real version of the movie either, so I've only watched the stuff on YouTube so far as well. LOL

I heart this discussion so much.

Though I can really only say "okay" to this :3. Like, really, I hope they're together too. It's been thirteen or fourteen years, and at least ten since they decided they were in love. That's utterly ridiculous without a promise and a rendez-vous now and then.

I'm just having such a hard time reconciling it with canon ;_;. Because 'direct chain of command' pretty much encompasses anyone you have control over, and the higher up in the ranks you get, the harder it is to avoid it. No matter whether or not Carter reported to someone else from her post on the Hammond, if Carter's immediate superior reported to someone else, and that someone else reported to General O'Neill at Homeworld Security, she's still in O'Neill's direct chain of command. I'mma pretend she reports to the IOA, not the military. Mrra.

ON THE OTHER HAND, discrete affairs are super awesome when you have Asgard beaming technology. That one fic where they spend the day on the lake (argh who wrote it?!) and then she gets beamed back up, that's my favorite. Except then her beam-er might report it. Rararararara grrr.

Also, I found excerpts of "Stuck" on rapidshare, but it's being twunty and telling me my browser is outdated when it's clearly not, so I can't download them :(.

On second thought, after doing some research on Don't Ask Don't Tell and getting sidetracked by fandom and researching chain of command, I've come to the conclusion that if they were very discreet and very careful not to get caught, Sam and Jack could be together at least throughout seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1 (Atlantis and SGU opinions pending), because Jack was not her direct CO like you said. And technically Jack would have to go through Landry to give Carter any orders or reassignments or anything. So I have tentatively decided to agree with you :D.
