"The no. 1 ___ is this person!" round-the table discussion

Who is popular to girls, children and the elderly?

First, we asked who is the most 'popular' to girls. When they are cued to nominate, Matsujun acquired 2 votes.

A: That's a fact, right? (laughs).
O: Me too. Because he's cool.
M: Thank you very much. But, based from the people around me, it may be Sho-kun.
S: Thank you very much!
N: Damn it!
O: Damn it...
N: For me, it's Aiba-kun. Because there are many guests who chose Aiba-kun in "Himitsu no Arashi-chan VIP Room"
S: For me, it's Nino.
N: Seriously?!
S: The reason...I wonder what is it?
N: Tell me, tell me!
S: Because you seem to enliven a conversation.

The next one is "Who seems to be the most popular to children?"  Aiba and Ohno got two votes, and Sakurai got one vote.

N: For me, it's Sho-kun. It naturally feels like he associates with children open-heartedly.
S: Thank you very much!
M: For me, it's Leader. Uta no...was it "Taisou no Onii-san" (exercising big brother)? Doesn't it feel like everyone will be wearing gym clothes and exercise?
O: It's "Uta no Onii-san". I didn't wear gym clothes!
S: HAHAHAHA
O: For me, it's Aiba-chan. Because he appears in "Tensai! Shimura Doubutsuen". That program is also popular to kids, right?
A: I often hear that. I give one vote to Leader. He won't look at children from an adult's perspective, (so) I think kids would find him easy to talk with.
S: For me, it's Aiba-kun. There are many who thought "It would be nice if I have this kind of father" in "My Girl", right?

The next question, "Who is the most popular among the elderly" earned Leader two votes, and the rest is scattered.

N: Leader feels like a grandchild, and maybe they will have a peace of mind once they see him.
M: For me, it's Leader as well. There are instances when I heard and I'm told that "Leader is cute"
O: For me, I think it's Aiba-chan. I have acquaintances who like Aiba-chan.
N: See, that already means that you have the elderly as your acquiantances (laughs).
A: For me, it's Sho-chan. As I thought, there are lots of people who watch "NEWS ZERO". There are instances when I'm told that "You are from the same group, right?" by the elderly.
S: For me, it's Nino. Because I heard that his approval rating in Sugamo is perfect.
(*Sugamo - popular shopping district for the elder generation)

M: Sugamo and Kagurazaka, right?
S: Yeah. Because he appears in Kuramoto Sou-sensei's drama like "Haikei, chichiue-sama", as expected, his (Nino's) degree of familiarity to grandpas and grandmas is high.

The next one is "Who can influence people to cry"*. The four of them voted for Aiba altogether, and the said person wanders aimlessly...

(*lit. 'infectious crying')

N: You're lost (laughs)
A: Maybe it's Leader, who I think comes after me.
N: Then it's you!
M: Was it in "Iza Now" (2004) tour? I thought it's impressive that these two were crying with such atmosphere of the tour.N: At the cross-shaped walkway, I have no idea but, all the juniors around Aiba-chan were crying. I thought "what's with this group?!" (laughs)
A: I wonder why, too (laughs)
M: The juniors cried first.
A: Ah, that may be true.
N: Because you're a person who can influence other people to cry.
S: Actually, though I didn't watch it, I heard that he cried on the first day of his stageplay "Tsubame no iru eki"*. It was such a rare episode, isn't it? Did I hear it from Nino?
N: Yeah. I already drew back. For Aiba-san, it may be some kind of achievement, but when I saw that he made the audience cry, I didn't get it anymore (laughs). In "24 hr TV", there are lots of chances that tears would flow out of Aiba-san's eyes. Do you also also cry in "Tensai! Shimura-"?
A: I don't cry. ...I restrain myself (laughs)

(*Tsubame no iru eki - Stations with Swallows, Aiba's stageplay back in 2005)

The next is "Who is the most filial?" They were lost as they thought that all of them are filial, but Ohno and Aiba got 2 votes.

M: For me, it's Sho-kun. I heard that he went somewhere with everyone during the new year. And perhaps, he's the one who paid!
N: In full.
S: From time to time (smile).
N: For me, it's Leader. Because I heard that he holds bowling tournament or bingo tournament, or whatever tournament with his family.
M: He prioritizes his family's year-end-party more than ours, right? (laughs)
A: For me it's Leader, too. I think the fact that he participates (in a family gathering) is filial.
N: Won't you say "Let's do it!" yourself?
O: I don't. My mom's the one in charge.
M: Your mother likes festivities.
S: For me, it's Aiba-kun. Because they always let me eat at their house. That's what I thought but, I guess that's different from being filial...
O: For me, it's also Aiba-chan. He called (by phone) his father on his birthday.
S: He did! During our work, I often hear him talk on the phone with his father and mother.

In "Who is the no. 1 gourmet" question, Matsujun got a landslide of 4 votes!

A: He has this image of knowing lots of restaurants. There are instances when we go out for a meal and he'll say "I know this restaurant, so let's go here."
N: When Jun-kun talks about who he met when he went out for a meal, he mentions nothing but well-known names. As expected, he's skillful for the fact that he knows a restaurant where that celebrity goes.
A: He's riding on the wave of this era.
N: He is.
A: And we don't ride on it. (laughs)
M: There's a wave regarding to meals?! (laughs)
N: I, too, meet with someone in a restaurant, but mostly with comedians. TKO's Kinoshita-san told me once "You ate here last time, didn't you? I was eating near you."
O: For me it's Matsujun, because he has this image of knowing many restaurants.
S: I heard that he was making pasta in the studio's kitchen during his 1-hour break from filming "Bambino!" The fact that he can cook such a delicious meal makes him a gourmet.
N: A so-called enthusiasm in cooking, right?
M: Thank you very much. For me it's Aiba-kun. It seems that Shimura (Ken)-san takes him to a delicious restaurant.
A: He takes me to an awesomely delicious restaurant!

And Aiba's  reason for choosing Sakurai is...?

The last question asked 'Who is the most fashionable?". Aiba got 3 votes. Aiba on the other hand voted for Sakurai, and his reason is...

A: Uhm- can I start? I choose Sho-chan, because we shop at the same store. Because if he's not fashionable, then that would make me not fashionable as well (laughs).
S: Then, it's for your own advantage!
N: Mamamamama *as if to calm him down*. That was "It's for my sake"-one vote for Sho-chan (laughs).
S: From now on, I'll do my best. For me, it's Matsujun. Because he can pull off clothes of any age. If he doesn't really like clothes, then it would be otherwise, right?
M: Thank you very much!
O: For me, it's Aiba-chan. I just thought how short pants suit him.
N: Same goes for me, it's Aiba-kun. I always thought that he's fashionable.
M: For me it's Aiba-chan too. Whenever I buy clothes, there are instances when I go "Aiba-san bought these clothes" (laughs)
A: Thanks!
S: So that means, (Aiba's fashion) also overlaps with Matsujun*?! Even so, Aiba-kun chose me for his own advantage...(tears up)

(*Matsujun could mean that because he sees Aiba buy clothes of his (Matsujun's) taste, it makes Aiba fashionable as well. The context is somewhat the same with Aiba's reason of 'you're-fashionable-coz'-we-go-to-the-same-store' ;p)
