all apologies

Sorry for falling off the grid. Haven't been receiving much good news (hospital talk for NONE). I reached my point of being overwhelmed and over saturated after Monday's news, so I've only been telling people as they call me because this time I really don't want to share. Even though he only had the CT scan and not the PET scan we have a stage diagnosis. Stage 4. Basically no warning signs, no symptoms, no early detection, no way of knowing anything was wrong until it was too late and the tumor on the biliary tree (bile duct) was so large it was blocking the bile & causing the jaundice. And, it has probably spread to the lymph nodes nearby as they are enlarged, and it doesn't appear to be operable. He has the option for chemo, they've discussed his drug cocktail he can have while still in kidney failure. And he also needs 28 day antibiotics instead of 14 day for the multiple infections he is facing from the drainage tubes. But they don't want to wait for the antibiotics to be finished before starting chemo. Or, we can hope he gets better enough that he can get on a plane to Houston with my brother for a second opinion from MD Anderson, apparently the #1 cancer hospital in the country. I'm hoping that they can figure out what the Guthrie has taken over 2 months to do, determine a treatment plan, and send him home with something the Sayre doctors can and have to do. But, so, yeah, I'm sorry.
